Asus really outdid themselves with this board. Overclocking has never been so easy. This thing looks wicked. The Bios is outstanding and is a tweakers dream. This board stays cool for me at 28c - 30c with CPU @ 4.6, DRam @ 2200, and GTX 780 with a slight OC. The built in Wi-Fi / Bluetooth is cool but of coarse it doesn't work if the PC is off so you'll still need a router if you want to shut down your pc and still have a Wi-Fi connection. The sound is fantastic, sounds the same to me as a high end aftermarket SC. As for the gamefirst software that is included, I didn't really see any difference in my ping or bandwidth with it but then again I had very low lat before I got this board so maybe I am already at my max. Sonic Radar is pretty cool if you play a lot of FPS, as an MMORPGer I doubt I'll get much use out of it but maybe there is a way to set it up for one (i'll edit if I figure that out) = P. This is hands down the best and most feature rich board I have used (and I have used many).

Edit

RAMDisc this is very cool. I have 32gigs of Corsair Dominator Platinum Ram installed with a 16 gig RAMDisc. It drasticly reduces load times even with an SSD installed.

My rig.

Asus Maximus VI Formula MB
Intel I7 4770k CPU
32 Gigs Corsair Dominator Platinum Ram
Asus GTX 780 GPU
Samsung 840 256 gig SSD as Main WD Velociraptor 250 gig slave
Corsair Hydro Series H110 Cooler
CM Storm Stryker Case
Corsair HX 850 PSU
And some really sick case fans I would recommend (Enermax TB Vegas Duo)

With the RAMdisc installed my load time for Windows 8 from a cold start is 7-8 secs to start screen and 10-12 for it to settle.

I used this motherboard for my first DIY computer build and it worked great. I watched the videos published by Newegg on how to build a computer and they were great. Everything was easy to install and the instructions in the manual were good. This thing comes with a lot of features some you may or may not want. I would go to the website and download the drivers separately as you may not want all of the software on the disk, and everything is updated on the website. I am still not sure if I want all of the added software that they give you on my machine. I would do your research before you download and install it all.

I originally bought this board because I liked that it has everything in one package: High end board with good overclocking potential, WiFi built in (it will do AC the new format), support for all RAM speeds and good sound quality. The problem is that this all is expensive and you maybe could do it better with other components. I am interested in good sound so that was a major selling point for this board along with the built in WiFi. If you want to hook it up to typical computer speakers this will work great, I think what I have played so far through my old computer speakers sound better than before (but I want it to sound better, so maybe it is wishful thinking?). I have now done some research about using powered monitor speakers made for recording studios as from what I can tell this set-up gives you the best speakers you can find. To do that right an external DAC made for computer sound may have been a better thing, so saving $100 on the motherboard to put in an external DAC may have been a better move. The audio outputs are designed to plug into computer specific speakers and do not follow the typical audio outputs found in mainstream audio applications.

Amazing motherboard. I'm amazingly pleased with this purchase. I have been a solid ASUS fan for years, and really stick to their boards when I'm building a high-end gaming system. This motherboard is solid, and has a lot of great options. I personally like the ROG armoring on the board, and think it adds an aesthetic appeal, as well as functionality to the board to prevent accidental scrapes.

The only issue I had was a minor instability with the RAM on the board. The RAM I used was NOT on the approved memory list for the board; so I did have some posting issues until I was able to get into the BIOS and adjust RAM timings. No big deal though, since it's been 100% solid since I got over that hurdle.

I'm including the core build below so that others contemplating can see how I put the system together. I definitely recommend this motherboard to others building a gaming PC.

Intel i7-4771
Asus Maximus VI Formula
Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB Kit 2400MHz DDR PC3-19200

I don't even know where to begin. This mother board blew, and far exceeded my expectations. For the price that you pay for it, the amount of customization in the bios and software you get with it you really can't beat it. The other thing I love about this motherboard is it is great for beginners and the technologically advanced as well.

The bios, even in advanced mode, is still relatively easy for beginners to navigate.

One of my favorite features of the board has to be the OC profiles. If you would like to over clock but do not possess the technical knowledge required, don't sweat it. This board has 3 pre-loaded OC profiles to choose from. Over clocking is as simple as a single click.

Enabling XMP to adjust your RAM to the proper speed is easy and can be done from both the EZ menu or the Advanced menu.

The built in Supreme FX takes your gaming sound to the next level, and saves you the purchase of an expensive sound card.

Tech aside the armor on this board is both awesome and aesthetically appealing, and simply looks awesome in any case. The cross chill is great if you're going for a liquid cooled setup.

This board also comes with a mPCIe Wireless card which connects at the upper left and corner of the board, which is nice if your like me and your PC is somewhere difficult, if not impossible, to run a hard wire connection to.

Overall the perks of this board are endless. The features I listed here aren't even all of them, I'm just getting tired of typing. Definitely check out some videos on this board before you purchase it and make sure its right for you.
