I just built a full system around this board: i7-2600K, 256GB Crucial m4 SSD, 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600, and two eVGA nVidia 580 GTXs in SLI.

The pros: It's got all the features you need for both general use and enthusiast (overclocking) use. Things like QuickSync, USB 3.0, and SATA-6, as well as full overclocking controls. If you're the type to put a window on your case, it has a nice blue color scheme and well-designed swoopy-looking heatsinks. The layout is good for cable management, too -- it's the first time I've been able to assemble a computer with no cords hanging out above the motherboard. It has a *ton* of USB ports, too, including two rear 3.0s and a header for two front 3.0s. The bundled AI Suite II software actually allows full control of overclocking settings (even detailed ones) from inside Windows, and controls them live, without rebooting. There is a CMOS Reset button on the board (illuminated even!) for when you screw things up.

The potential pitfalls: Those swoopy-looking heatsinks are tall, and inconveniently located at the top of the motherboard. If you plan to put a watercooling radiator on the top of your case they may get in the way (I had to drill some new screw-holes to do this. Also, it has not done so well for me as regards BCLK overclocking -- I get memory corruption at only 103.0, which is not much at all (though it fully supports multiplier overclocking, so my i7-2600K is running at nearly 5GHz without issues despite this problem. In addition, the Vengeance RAM is not a stupendous overclocker anyway, and I'm running an SLI system, so I can't necessarily even blame the board. Still, if you really want to crank BCLK to 107+ I'd suggest a Maximus IV instead.

Slick board, looks great, more features and capabilities than you can shake a stick at.

Cool stuff:
- Both Marvell and Intel 6GB SATA III ports
- Good placement of USB 3.0 header, as well as most of the other connection points
- Plenty of USB 2.0 ports, plus 2 Ethernet ports
- Nicely packaged with no shortage of build-parts
- Came up on first power-up with no glitches or errors, operating system install was smooth as silk
- The onboard Realtek sound is surprisingly good
- Built-in Bluetooth adapter

It's been a few years since I had the means and the money to build my own system, so it was with the aid of folks here and on other sites that I decided on my component set. As always, it all starts with the motherboard and I have to thank the reviewers here for their detailed information -- it was invaluable.

My system:
- ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe
- Intel i7-2600K (in case I do decide to overclock at some point)
- Corsair Vengeance Blue DDR3 1600 - 16GB RAM
- Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB DDR5
- Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 800W power supply
- Corsair H80 CPU liquid cooling system
- Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 full tower case
- Windows 7 64-bit Pro

I had zero problems with this motherboard, and would gladly get it again if I had a second system to build soon.

Oh, and it was only on second reviewing of the manual and reading more info online that I learned about the Intel Smart Response technology, where you can install a relatively small Solid-State Drive, but achieve remarkable boosts in application loading and boot time, since it acts as a kind of permanent caching system for your most accessed files and apps, plus presumably key parts of the OS.

This motherboard is fantastic. There were no problems with setup and all the features work great. Very FAST with my i7-2600, 16GB DDR3-1866 RAM and Vertex 3 120GB SSD Drive. I need this motherboard because it not only has the latest hardware (SATA 3 and USB 3) but it also has the IEEE 1394 ports I need for my older devices.

This motherboard is definitely worth what the price tag incorporates. Deluxe model over Pro is actually pretty different. There's no onboard graphics card, theres dual LAN ports, few more USB 3.0 & 2.0 ports, front panel USB 3.0 hub (make sure you either have a 3.5 inch front bay or a 5.25 to 3.5 inch adapter for the front to install it in as its 3.5 inch size), a few other addons to make overclockability possible over the V Pro. Worth the higher price if any of this matters to you. One of the best 1155 socket boards there is for gaming for the money if your not willing to pay the premium price to move up to 2011 socket motherboards yet.

I was nervous at first ordering computer parts from the web...but man, was I pleased when my stuff arrived...First off...the bios interface on this is unlike anything I had seen before. Very Slick design. There is so much you can do. It is designed with overclocking in mind and helps the user balance out speed and performance based on his / her needs. It is really good looking too... a plus, seeing as a have a transparent acrylic window on my case. Another big plus was the front mounted USB 3.0 unit. It basically goes where the floppy drive would be. (like who uses floppy drives anymore anyway). There was no problem setting this up....Everything plugged in, everything worked, installed the drivers provided on the disk and BOOM... a newly upgraded PC. I have 16 GB Crucial Vengeance 1600Mhz memory in this now, but this board supports up to 32GBs...Along with the Intel i7 2600k I have a sweet setup. Highly recommended, great board, lots of features.

UPDATE:
I had this MOBO for almost exactly a year and had no problems with it...However, I recently traveled and upon returning, the computer just kept restarting...Power up for one second, shut off...and then automatically continues this loop. Essentially it's the sign that this board has "given up the ghost". It was working before I left..i was playing Borderlands2 on it just fine....I had it plugged out while I was away so no risk of getting hit during any freak Electrical storms....I am at a loss...so essentially I have no desktop computer until i get a new board in. I am still undecided as to whether or not I would even get another ASUS or maybe just a regular Intel board. I knocked off two stars on the rating simply because this board died for absolutely no reason. I never even had it overclocked!
