Wanted to throw my name into the ring as well as a new owner of the PQ321 who is insanely happy with my purchase. With scaling set to 100% (I don't mind the small fonts) I've massively expanded my available desktop space, and as a programmer who usually has 3 or 4 different applications open at once, it has greatly increased my productivity, and I've only had it for a few hours! Installation was easy (note: using Windows 8.1 preview, I hear it adds DPI functionality, so I don't know if it'd be so seamless under normal 8), thankfully my Radeon came with a mini display port to display port converter or else I'd have been really pissed not being able to use it day one! I used eyefinity to make it a single display @60hz (after turning on MST using the PQ's menu). One thing that stumped me for a few minutes, no sound after eyefinity'ing it - solution was simple, make sure you select monitor 1 as the default sound output device under playback devices! I haven't tried any games yet so can't comment, but as far as productivity goes, happy as can be.

1 Day Later:
Burned out pixel :( , will let you know how their zero bright dot policy and 2 way shipping works out.

One of the new 4K Computer monitors out there to use Sharps 31.5" IGZO display, and bring 4K to the desktop.

That all sounds very promising, but this thing comes set up like its a cheap TV competing for your attention in Walmart. Let me give some of the many examples:

The PQ321Q requires being reset to standard resolution, not 'Wide' displays - nobody wants their Photoshop images 'stretched': Screen Size > Normal (not 'Wide')

They need the brightness to be set at 120-140 cdm, not eye peeling 350cdm maximum: Picture > Brightness, turn it down from 30 to about 8 on my model

We need to work with the monitors native gamut, not 'Vivid' or sRGB, but the full native color space that can be accurately calibrated by a calibrator puck: Color> Standard, not Vivid, not sRGB (unless you are purely a web designer)

White Balance will be set by your calibration routine, not a preset: Color> White Balance > Thru (for PC use)

Gamma should be 2.2 for most people, it's set way to high as delivered: Color> Gamma> 2.2

All of these are set wrongly by the factory, it is kind of shocking what they think 'Default' should be. When you get it running out of the box, it seems dreadful, like its trying to compete on a BestBuy TV wall. Adjusting nearly every setting down to standard workstation monitor settings, like those above, improves a *lot*. Proper profiling improves it even more. A 10bit pipeline (like in ATI FirePro cards) to this 10 bit monitor, even better! Basically, Asus need to provide the option of Gaming Default or Graphic Pro defaults, at first startup. They are completely different in their needs.

I just took the plunge and got the Asus PQ321Q, in large part because Apple has certified that it is capable of 60 hz on the Mac Pro (Late 2013) when using this display. See Apple's support page. People have been repeating this all over the internet.

Apple says: "Mac Pro (Late 2013) also support 60 Hz displays using multi-stream transport (MST). These displays need to be manually configured to use MST. Follow the steps below to use the display's built-in controls to enable this feature.

ASUS PQ321Q: Choose OSD menu > Setup > DisplayPort Stream

Your Mac will automatically detect an MST-enabled display."

Well, I got the display and set it up on my nMP with dual D500s. Its connected to my nMP using a display port to minidisplayport cable. [...]

As soon as I turn on MST, the screen goes black. I have to turn off MST to get it working. I finally talked to Asus support. The support rep made me wait while he talked to a supervisor, and then he swore that it simply isn't possible. Here is part of our discussion:

Shahid Haque-Hausrath Fri, 7/11/2014 05:07:18 pm
Can you tell me what kind of cable I can use to connect a Mac Pro (newest model, only has mini display port) to the monitor, and get 60hz? Because this is absolutely supposed to be possible.

Cordell S. Fri, 7/11/2014 05:07:47 pm
you will not be able to get 60hz when using that mac as the output on the mac is mini display port. it would have to be coming from a full display port connection that your mac does not have.
and who told you that?

Shahid Haque-Hausrath Fri, 7/11/2014 05:08:11 pm
Apple. [...]
I don't get how what Apple says can jive with what you said about mini display port not working. The Mac Pro only has mini display port.

I got this monitor the first day available on July 17 and it has worked perfectly. Easy to set up and capable of 60 hz, single cable, max resolution single screen output. Multiple screen output is also available(Enter monitor setup and select MST instead of default SST otherwise only 30 hz is available). After being used to a Dell 1920*1200 monitor I have to increase the text size by 50% since the text size is so small. Sharpness, color richness and detail are significantly improved over typical HD(1920*1080) monitors. Played some 5 year old action games which allowed for 3840*2160 resolution and even at max detail level there wasn't any noticable lag. I bought a fast new video card(Radeon 7950) to drive this monitor and comes with a display port output.

I viewed some 4k videos on Youtube. These are videos filmed in 3840*2160+ resolution and can be 500 mb for only 3 minutes, instead of less than 50 mb for typical HD. These 4k videos are breathtaking on this monitor and really show off the color richness and detail. They look 3d in the sense that I cannot distinguish the quality difference between this and real life. While 4k movies are still scarce, you will be in for a real treat when watching any 4k content on this monitor!

Is this worth $3500? If screen real estate is very important to you, or money is not an issue then definitely yes go out and buy this monitor!

My only complaint is the users manual is a complete joke and ASUS technical support is not well versed with this monitor as they don't even have one to use.
