Having a GTX660 from which I have upgraded this is a substantial improvement. I have found an overall improvement in stability from my system and have experienced no game crashes in Battlefield 4 which is 1 of 2 games I'm playing. Other is Starcraft 2. In BF4 I now have a default quality of ultra and it looks just beautiful with zero stuttering or anything negative to note. FPS at that setting on 1980x1020 is averaging about 70fps. Not scientific but I use the in game show-fps and sits between there and 90fps. It is extremely silent and my Zalman CPU fan which is quiet in its own right, is only heard. GPU-Z shows a constant temp of 75 degrees Celsius during gaming. I have been gaming since 1999 and this is only my 2nd AMD card but this was an amazing surprise from a power stability point of view. I would recommend it for sure. On a last note - this card is massive - way bigger than my GTX660. I have a micro ATX so is an issue for me (Thermaltake Lanboy) The CD Rom drive bay has to come out to fit this in.

The card is really well built, i spent hours of research on this card before deciding to purchase it from Amazon. Before this card I bought a XFX R9 280X Black Edition Double DD. XFX's card had light artifacting and would shut my computer down. I returned it, then 2 months later bought this card. Asus R9280X had extreme artifacting, various lines would fill the screen whenever a game started. Sometimes things will be clear then multiple neon colors would shoot out from the main character even on the game's lowest graphics settings (GW2). My old Sapphire 5870 card works fine. I thought my 1000 watt power supply maybe dieing so I bought a 1300 watt one, the Asus R9 280X still shows numerous artifacts.
I contacted Asus, they said the card's hardware is bad and its not common for this model. I did research online and numerous youtube comments and videos showed this card artifacting. Few people are saying the R9 280x serious production quality, regardless of manufacture, is a bit random. That if depends on luck whether you get a good card or not. I'll have to return my Asus card today. The R9 280X series in 2014, does seem depend on luck whether you'll get a good card or not. I don't want to keep wondering whether a R9 280X card will function properly when I order it. I'm using an Asus X58 motherboard, if anyone finds that helpful.
I am considering going the Nivida 770 series, I really wanted to stick with Asus but the model I want Sapphire X vapor-x 7970 is hard to find (without paying a high price) since the card was released in 2012. I read the Asus GTX 770 model, also has its fair share of problems. I keep seeing more negative reviews for graphics card that were bought in 2014. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to buy? I really dislike opening a new graphics card box, getting excited, and run into artifacting whenever I play a direct x game.

I bought this card elsewhere in October 2013, when it was $100 less than it is now. It has been, to date, the most expensive graphics card I've purchased, and the only time I've bought what was a truly high-end gaming card instead of what's known as an "enthusiast" card. At that time, the reviews comparing this card to its nVidia counterpart were positive, and the ATI cards were running $100 less. I bought one.
Initially, I was delighted. I play Guild Wars 2, and this card shows me just how beautiful that game can play. In the graphics-intensive environment of World v World v World, Guild Wars 2's realm conflict venue, which can involve over 100 people in a particular area, with all sorts of visual effects going off, I can get playable frame rates of around 45 fps, which is frankly amazing.
However, I started noticing significant artifacting in game during December. I downloaded benchmark and monitoring software. I ran tests for memory and gpu. No errors on benchmarking programs. Temperatures at load are stable, around 56C. I don't artifact during the benchmarking programs, only during Guild Wars 2. I conclude that this is some kind of driver issue.
Recently ATI released a video BIOS update for this card to address artifacting in game. I downloaded and installed it. Three days later, I still experienced significant artifacts in game.
Please note that the artifacting is random. I can go for several hours without artifacting, and then next time I might be able to play only 30 minutes before artifacting.
All in all, while I think this has the potential to be a good card, I cannot recommend it. When it is working as intended, it is a stunning display. But given its current high cost and unreliability, I would recommend that players look elsewhere.

This card is fast and cool! Maxed out BF4 at 1080p with great frame rates and also mines LTC at 725 Kh/s after only tweaking for 15 minutes. At full mining load it doesn't even break 68C with fans at 50%.

I'm giving this 3 stars cause it does work, just doesn't work well. It has been artifacting almost directly out of the box. But even with the random artifacts it still does what it is suppose to do which is play my games. I have attempted to run a bios update on it to see if that would be a fix but ASUS own bios patch won't take on it. All and all I can honestly say this leaves a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to AMD graphics seeing as this is a know problem with this series of card and with ASUS as a video card manufacturer seeing as this makes the 3rd video card I have purchased from them that has had issues. Last one I returned to Amazon to try this card instead. I'm now wondering if I shouldn't return this one and just go with a different brand entirely for my video card needs.
Update 7/13/2014
System has now taken to randomly rebooting, this card is going to be returned asap and I'm going with a different brand and back to Nvida cards. never had one give me this many issues.
