Pros:
*USB 3.0
*Plenty of SATA 3.0 ports
*Plenty of PCI-E x16 slots
*Cool design and color scheme
*Good Vcore cooling
*Crazy good warranty and independently tested components (apparently they're military grade)

Cons:
*AI Charger + feature is a bit misleading. The board used to advertise it charged USB devices up to three times faster. While it potentially can, check to see if your device is B.C. 1.1 compatible. The current list is very small, mostly tablets and iDevices.
*Some complained about getting memory to correctly clock, not a problem here. Make sure you disable XMP and time them yourself.
*Just nitpicking but there should be a 90 degree USB header adapter for better cable management.

Breeze to set up, good packaging, loads of useful features, good price.

My setup:
AMD FX 8150
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX rev2.0
Gigabyte HD7950
Corsair Vengeance 1866 16GB
Raidmax 850W PSU ATX12V
Western Digital Caviar Black 7200 RPM 1 TB
Samsung 830 Series 128GB SSD

The pro's:

- Looks amazing. I love the aesthetics of the motherboard.
- Feels very sturdy.
- Comes with a lot of software you can optionally install.
- Has a fantastic feature where you can download BIOS updates (more on this in cons).
- The manual was very well done (one of the best I've seen).

The con's:
- I had to RMA because it wouldn't work well with the AMD 8350. It worked okay for a couple of times booting, but would repeatedly fall asleep and not come back. I finally had a red CPU light on mobo (I know it was the mobo because I replaced it with another product and works great).
- The downloadable BIOS feature didn't work because no servers could be reached. I had to download a BIOS file manually from their website. ASUS: This is an AWESOME feature, make it work!!!

Long and short of it, the product looks and feels good. If you have a CPU configuration that works with this motherboard it's a keeper despite the downloadable BIOS issue. This Motherboard advertises that it works out of the box with the AMD 8350- but I am skeptical. So if you buy this product, make sure you first do your research and find a CPU that is confirmed to work.

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry for the issue you had with the motherboard. The FX-8350 is officially supported on this board since BIOS release 1006: http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20/#support. Please try to update BIOS to the latest version as it may improve stability on your system. As an alternative to updating BIOS within Windows, please download the latest BIOS from the link above, extract to a USB drive, plug it into a USB ports, and use the EZ Flash tool in UEFI. If you have any questions or concerns, or like to discuss the issues mentioned further, please don't hesitate to contact us at 1-812-282-2787 or contact me at cl-benson@asus.com. Thank you.

I have been using this motherboard for a few months now and it has been running without any issues. I just love this motherboard because everything is so well designed and the bios is easy to work with thanks to the UEFI technology. Overclocking with this motherboard is super easy. You can go from 3.2Ghz to 4Ghz with no trouble at all. I have seen many people get their Phenom X4/X6 CPUs to 4Ghz with no trouble at all on this motherboard. Just change the multiplier in the bios and you are all set.

The SABERTOOTH 990FX has nice VRMs that keep it nice and cool. It comes with high quality capacitors and has 8+2 VRM phase that can handle extreme overclocking. It also comes with AI suite that can auto-tune your settings for your optimal performance but I don't recommend using it because it can cause random crashes. I'm sure there will be an update that fixes the issues with the software.

The built quality of the 990FX is outstanding and it's awesome to look at. Updating the bios is made easier with this motherboard. You simply download the correct bios from the Asus website and put it in a USB drive and load it up on the UEFI bios and it will automatically update the bios. ASUS never ceases to amaze me with their amazing motherboard and the 990FX is the best motherboard to get for AMD. The new 9-Series AMD chipsets is crazy fast. The only thing I wish this motherboard had was a PCIe 3.0x but it's not a deal breaker for me.

The 990FX comes with four DDR3 DIMM slots that supports up to 32GB of ram. It's nice to have that feature because if you are a 3D Artist that does a lot of rendering or animation then the more ram you have the better it is in the end. This motherboard has let me overclock my ram to 2133Mhz it handles it like a beast.

Purchased a rev 1 of the Sabertooth 990fx about a year ago which recently failed. While waiting for the RMA on that board I decided to purchase the Sabertooth 990fx R2 not knowing how long the repairs would take. The R2 board lasted a much shorter time about 3 months before it failed. The RMA process is taking much longer for the new board than it did for the first board and it qualifies for the advanced replacement except Asus has none it stock so that option is unavailable.
The board until it failed was working good, most of the shortcomings of the R1 board were corrected too bad Asus has a quality problem with these boards (2 out of 2 failed). I've used Asus boards for years and these two boards haven't been anywhere as reliable as ones I've used in the past.
This board isn't cheap so I would expect better life.

I will never purchase another Asus product again! I have a Sabertooth 990fx motherboard with a 5 year warranty that the sound went out mid October 2012. I called in on the 10/18/2012 (I believe) to setup an RMA. Turns out that board qualifies for and advanced exchange. AWESOME, I thought, But that is where the awesome stopped. After exchanging some info with the person on the phone he said my board should be available within 24-48hrs and they would ship it to me, and all I had to do was swap the boards out and place the broken one into the shipping box and send it back. Easy enough? WRONG!

On 11/8/2012 I called again because I had not received a new board or even an email or tracking #. The person I was talking to said they had not received my CC authorization form to place a hold on my CC and thats why it was not sent out. When I setup the RMA the person never said anything about this form nor was it ever emailed to me. The rep tested the email address I had given them by then sending me the form. I got it immediately, so obviously they had the correct info. Someone had just failed to do their job. I then had to wait until I got paid on the 15th to fax in the form. At that time I called in AGAIN (11/15/2012) and went over the information on the form on the phone with one of the support reps to make sure it was all correct before I faxed it over to make sure there were no more mishaps. I hung up the phone and immediately faxed the form to the fax # on top of the form. Just to make clear, the form was filled out on a computer then printed, signed by hand and then faxed.

Now it is 11/27/2012 and I still have not received the board nor had the hold been placed on my account or any emails or phone calls, so I called in again. This time I immediately ask for a supervisor.
