I just purchased this monitor--moving from an older IBM 21 inch CRT monitor and WOW what a difference! Just reclaimed what seemed like 4 square feet of desk space and not to mention the power bill also improved by probably $50 a month! Honestly though--great picture out of the box. Maybe a bit too vivid if I was being picky but I believe most people will love the picture it produces without any adjustments. I decided to breakout my calibration disk that I used on my HDTV so I set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and then tweaked the contrast, brightness, etc and once done it was fantastic! Blacks are very good for an LCD--but do not expect plasma levels. Very quick refresh rate--I was a bit worried that when I play games that I would see ghosting--Nope. None. When playing HD video on ITunes, it looked very good. I highly recommend the monitor to anyone. The price/value ratio is the best I could find.

This is an AMAZING monitor. I consider myself a techie and I spent nearly a month searching for the best lcd monitor that wouldn't break the bank. This is by far one of the best purchases I've made in my life. If you are still looking around debating between monitors, please don't waste anymore time. Get this one. I did the research, read and watched tons of reviews on tons of monitors and this one has exceeded my expectations, which were very high. It's 2 ms response time is great and there is absolutely no ghosting (I've ran tests on it). The contrast is superb, although the blacks could be a little deeper at times, but still, they are great and I am very, very particular about good black levels. The monitor is extremely clear and it truly shines at 1080p. I've played multiple games on my ps3 through the hdmi port on this monitor and I can surely say that this is the best I've ever seen my games look, even when I compare to other lcd tv's I've connected it. This monitor is so clear that I notice details in games that I had never noticed before. This monitor also has an audio out (headphone jack) port, which is not common among cheaper lcd monitors, which only have the audio in for sound from your pc (this has both), and it's phenomenal because I can connect my sound system to the monitor and not have to deal with it's built in speakers. I personally have not used the built in speakers, but seriously, you probably aren't either considering that you could get a decent set of computer speakers for $10 or $20. It also has a dvi and vga port. My computer is connected through vga, and it looks extraordinary in 1080p. The screen is massive and text is extremely clear. Even the smallest text will still come out clear and readable. The colors are vibrant and pop out very well. I never knew how good games like Pixel Junk Eden could look until I purchased this monitor. Oh yeah, and for those of you worried about dead pixels (I was too), mine came with no dead pixels. I trust amazon's policy and I'd say as long as you purchase the monitor from here, you should be fine. I've owned it for about a week now, and I can surely say that this was a great purchase. The only con I've had is that the monitor has an auto sleep feature if it doesn't get signal from whatever you have connected for 1-2 secs, which is a very short time frame. This can get pretty annoying because sometimes I have to shut the monitor off and turn it back on to get the picture back from my ps3 because it stops displaying signal sometimes when it's loading a game, and that makes the monitor go to sleep. But really, that happens very infrequently and this monitor starts up in less than 2 secs, which makes that much less annoying. So in conclusion, if you are looking for an lcd monitor, BUY THIS ONE NOW. The picture quality is amazing (and I am very particular about the clarity of my displays) and the monitor itself looks great as well. The stand may look like a cheap plastic in the picture, but in reality it looks great and feels more like a high quality rubbery material with a ring of gloss on it which matches the glossy finish of the monitor. The screen is matte which is great so it doesn't reflect light and the colors are extremely vibrant and high definition picture looks beautiful on this monitor. All in all, I love this monitor and I'm sure you will too.

After using a 20 inch imac for over 3 years it was time to upgrade. The screen on the 20 inch had become unevenly lit, and had seen it's better days. I decided to upgrade to the new 24 inch imac decked out. After returning 3 yes 3 of them due to screen issues it was time to move on. I got a refund, and decided to purchase a mac pro so I could have control of the screen. I decided this monitor was the best for the money at the time. The first one I got had an obvious stuck pixel. It was green, and just about in the middle of the screen. Anymore I'm used to taking things back as now consumers are the quality control. A couple of button presses later I had another one on the way. I must say for an online retailer amazon has unbelievable customer service. The bad one was picked up at the same time the new one was delivered so I had no down time without a monitor. Thats very important when you just got a new computer that your dieing to get all set up!!! I never even had to talk to one person. Needless to say the replacement monitor was perfect! Maybe not quite as bright as the 24 inch imac, but it was too bright for extended use anyhow. The only problem I have with this monitor is when using a hdmi to dvi cable the monitor will not sleep with the computer. When using a dvi to dvi it sleeps perfectly. Not a big deal as I just turn it off when I leave. Probably saves more energy anyways. So to conclude I am very satisfied with this purchase from amazon.com! Thanks!

I did lots of research and comparisons before selecting the ASUS VW246H. Was very worried about getting bad pixels. I chose Amazon who has the best policy. Boy was the choice great! This monitor has no bad pixels and was perfect straight out of the box. Can't say anything at all critical about it. Huge! Awesome color, clarity, contrast and detail. Can't go wrong with this monitor or with Amazon. Free shipping to sweeten the deal.

I recently upgraded from a 22" Acer monitor and was going to buy a 24" Acer but found this one for less $$. Always trusted Asus with motherboards and now I trust them with monitors!

The quality is damn nice, and the 24" is a nice size for gaming and watching movies. I found the black for the monitor could have been a little darker, but in theater mode the black is adequate enough and overall the picture quality is sharp and there are no ghost effects with games (tested on high frames per second games such as Call of Duty: WOW).

Bottom Line: Cheap price, great quality!

This was my first LCD purchase so I was really excited. Unfortunately mine arrived with a stuck pixel. The pixel is green so is very visible whenever image is dark. It is pretty near center so quite annoying. I have tried the things recommended online to fix it (pixel unsticking software, gentle massaging/tapping, spot pressure cycling on/off) with no luck. I have given up as don't want to make things worse. I learned that Tigerdirect, who is the Amazon seller, requires you to first contact manufacturer for a return, and maufacturer's normal policy is at least (5) bad pixels before will consider. So looks like I am gonna have to learn to live with this darn stuck green pixel. Not happy. Concerning the rest of the monitor. The size is awesome. The overally image quality is good once you turn down the brightness and contrast (I use theater mode). Response is fast. Working the buttons is a pain; location is poor and the menu navigation is not user-friendly. The monitor in my opinion has a "cheap" feel. If I could do again would buy another brand (maybe Samsung, LG or Viewsonic?). I am glad most of you are happy. A guy online said he purchases monitors from brick and mortar retail outlets so can check out before purchase and easily return if a problem. This seems like good advice whick I will keep in mind for next time.

Just received this and set it up today. Out of the box I found it to be a little bright. I liked the Theater Mode preset the best of the out-of-the-box preset options. I also found a forum thread on the ASUS site that had some calibration setting suggestions. One of those is working well for me. See for yourself at:[...]
I've got this hooked up to my MacBook Pro using DVI with the Mini Display Port to DVI adapter from Apple. The MBP picked the monitor up immediately, set it to full 1920x1080 resolution and gave me all the appropriate Display settings in the System Preference panel.

For the money, I think it would be tough to beat this monitor. ASUS has been good to me in the motherboard and barebone world - so hopefully the same will hold true for this monitor.

I bought two 24" monitors at the same time to find out which was better (and because two people need one). The other was the ViewSonic VX2433wm. Viewsonic's monitor has sharper text, and in my opinion looks better. The text on this monitor is a little fuzzy. I found it odd that there was a sharpness setting... most monitors I've used with DVI don't have sharpness an option.

The GUI is more refined than the Viewsonic -- you won't see color schemes like 4500k or 8800k. Everything's nicely labeled for you. The speakers on this monitor are very good. If they were on the sides instead of the back, I might even use them instead of my external speakers. The speakers on the Viewsonic are terrible -- what I normally expect from monitor speakers.

Another important note is that both monitors are said to be 24" but this one is ACTUALLY 24" while Viewsonic's is 23.6". I couldn't decide which was overall better so I just kept both.

This monitor was recommended to me by our IT tech at work due to its balance of features and high image quality at a moderate price. And he was right, it's a really excellent value. It has multiple inputs, including HDMI, a high contrast ratio, and is certainly big enough at 24". The aspect ratio is 16:9, corresponding to HD TV. I would have no problem using this to view DVDs in HD. Visitors to my office have commented how good the image looks. I'm very happy with this product and the price, and I'm considering buying one out of my own pocket for home.

I had just purchased a new PC and needed a monitor. Like most, I checked the reviews posted and thought that I would give the ASUS VW246H a try. I couldn't be more pleased. There were no dead pixels. Lots of real estate for all of my applications. Call of Duty 4 and 5 looked great on this monitor. No problem with refresh rate or ghosting. I also purchased a tv tuner for my pc and now watch TV on it. The HDTV looks fantastic. My only negative is the built-in speakers. They aren't very good. Just be sure to get a set of those too.
