5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful Resource
I found this book very helpful in preparation for the ASVAB. I scored a 90. It helped to get familiar with the format of the exam itself, as well as the way questions are worded etc. It was that much less to think about at exam time.

1.0 out of 5 stars You've got to be kidding.....
I can't see the reason for buying a book on the ASVAB. You only need a 45 for the Army and a 65 for the Navy and Air Force. Anything above that is unnecessary. And if you can't score a 65 on this....then maybe a career in the military isn't for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Preparation, February 7, 2002

I bought this book and studied it at my leisure, not cover to cover. It really prepared me for the format and style of questions on the actual ASVAB. I followed the practice tests and read a bit on the subjects and still managed to score a 94! Definitely worth it! Better to take the test prepared and this is the tool to do it.

This book is great. It helped me raise my overall scores by 30 points. The book includes four practice tests. It is well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars It helps, April 7, 2004

I feel this book can be very helpful. Although you only need a 45 to pass the ASVAB, it is still very important to do extremly well. A 45 will put you in a limited postion to select the military occupation of your choice. Your GT score and some of the line scores account for what type of occupation you will have in your future military career. I suggest that if you are not good in a certain area, get the book and practice. The ASVAB is important for how far you will be able to go in the military and what you will qualify to do. Take it from somebody who is trying to be in Intel but is off by just a few points.
In addition, your scores determine whether you qualify for a sign up bonus and incentives if they are being offered at the time or for whatever occupation you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!, May 29, 2009

This book is worth every penny if you are preparing to take the ASVAB. The full-lenght practice tests were almost identical to what you will see on the real ASVAB. After studying for a few weeks with this book, I scored an 88 (AFQT) and a 124 (GT score). It has been over 10 years since I have taken a math class and this book was an excellent refresher. The real ASVAB almost seemed easier. If you are either needing a refresher or need to learn math and english for the first time, I highly recommend this book. Study...it works!

4.0 out of 5 stars ASVAB Prep, December 16, 2011

I bought this for my eldest who was joining the Air Force, just now getting round to reviewing it since my daughter is joining too. I believe the book helped both to pass the test, though my son is the one who struggled the most and the one who was helped the most. After seeing their results, I recommend preparing for the test beforehand. Higher scores on the test open up different specialties and choices. My son wouldn't have got into his specialty without a good score.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped me get a 99!, June 16, 2011
This review is from: ASVAB 17th Edition (Peterson's Master the ASVAB) (Paperback)
Overall I highly recommend this book for anyone studying for the ASVAB. It particularly helps refresh the memory with some basic math/science/mechanics etc you might not have used since High School. I was 24 when I enlisted, and this helped raise my score from an 81 (on the first practice test) to a 99 when I took the real one a couple of months later.

I always recommend this to people when they're considering enlisting. Another useful part of the book is at the back it discusses various career options. While these are done in a broad fashion, that's actually a good thing since the actual MOS's change all the time, so at least you can get an idea of what you want to work in before looking up specifics on the website/talking to Recruiters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Useful, June 20, 2011

This book is a must have if you want to ace the ASVAB. I used it with Master The ASVAB: Score High and Launch Your Military Career (Master the Asvab (Book Only)) as study guide and I was told by MEPS people that I had one of the highest scores they have seen in months. My score was about 29 points higher than what was required for OCS. I highly recommend it.
