Hasn't lasted 1 year!, August 1, 2005
This review is from: AT&T 2231 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Office Product)
We have never liked these phones... there has not been good reception, an annoying beeping that can only be heard by the person you are talking to. And now the buttons are almost unoperable - CANNOT use the phones for automated calls because it is too hard to push the buttons.

A lot of great features, but battery power sucks!, February 18, 2005
This review is from: AT&T 2231 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Office Product)
This phone has excellent features, including volume controls for the ringer and the handsets themselves, 2 handsets (an excellent idea), the ability to use the handsets as walkie talkies (haven't tried this yet), a 50-number phone book for storing numbers, caller ID, and notification of voice mail (those last 2 only if you're subscribed to the phone services--not for notification of an answering machine message). It feels great in my hand and comes with belt clips and headphone holes. I think that's useful because i hate speakerphone (it also has that), but want to be mobile while speaking. I have an AT&T answering machine and it's incredibly durable so i hope this will last a long time as well. I left the handsets off the chargers after completely charging them (the manual says 12 hours minimum, i made it 24 to be safe). I used one of them only twice during this time and that one was completely discharged after only 2 days. Since my conversations were not more than about 20 minutes each, most of that time was spent with the phones just sitting around. I'd call that bad charge retention. The other handset seems to be almost fully charged so I guess this only happens when you use them at all. My cell phone only loses power that quickly if i actually use it a lot. Cordless phone makers should move away from NiMH and replace them with the longer-lasting LiIon batteries.

Worst Phone I've EVER Owned!, May 25, 2006
This review is from: AT&T 2231 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Office Product)
In less than six months, the buttons were SO difficult to push that we cannot call any phone numbers that require punching in an account number or something of the like. BOTH phones do this! The main phone (the one with the base that has the answering machine unit) no longer charges either phone. I used to have to play with it for a while to get it to start charging, but now it just doesn't charge at all, so we have to use the little base to charge both phones. However, in the last two days, we've noticed that the little base is beginning to do it as well. The battery sucks!!! Within two or three hours, it is dead and we have to charge it again for two or three hours. PLEASE do not waste your money on this HORRID phone! These are the only phones we have at present, so we're stuck with it until we have the money to buy a proper phone. Don't put yourself into this situation. We assumed since it was such an expensive phone and that it was AT&T, that it would be a great phone. Nope. No such luck!

Did not last 1 year..., November 3, 2005
This review is from: AT&T 2231 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Office Product)
Battery now lasts maybe an hour off the charger, buttons stick making it difficult to dial out (not to mention frustrating), and there are "clicks" for no reason when I'm talking so the other person on the line continually asks, "Is that your other line?" AGH! Avoid at all costs! My boyfriend loves his Panasonic phones, so I'm going with the best-rated Consumer Reports Panasonic. It's awful to get a bad phone- just move on! (And my dad is an engineer and picky about electronics- so I know all the "tricks" to take care of phones and extend battery life...)

Agree about the buttons..., August 22, 2006
This review is from: AT&T 2231 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Office Product)
This phone has been good for me for several years, and it is certainly less ugly than most phones seem to be these days, but the buttons have started to go on mine, and I am about to ditch it for something better. Either they are totally impossible to press or they press twice, making it extremely difficult to dial or even answer this phone. Really, it's an unacceptable situation, and AT&T should be ashamed about this.
