Good Corded No Frills Phone,
This review is from: AT&T 265 - Trimline Telephone with Caller ID & Call Waiting (Office Product)
My wife wanted a white slimline corded no frills phone, though one with caller ID would be nice. Corded phones are quickly becoming extinct, but I found this one at Amazon and got it. It is a very dependable phone with good quality sound, firm pushing buttons, a nice size LCD screen displaying date and time, and of course, it displays the caller ID with name, 10 digit number, and the date and time of the call. The only downside is the screen is not lighted making it difficult to read at times, but otherwise, a wonderful phone.

I think this phone is acceptable. The LCD for the screen is hard to read unless you are at just the right angle. The phone seems too thick. When wall mounted, it hangs up and the hook that keeps the receiver on is not too sturdy - a little bump of the cord will send it crashing to the floor.
The sound and call quality is perfect, though.

This phone lasted about two and a half months before the caller ID function failed. The retailer would not take it back, and, after four calls totaling about two hours of being on hold and speaking to "customer service," I first got the advice that I should attach another caller ID phone to the outlet or take my phone to someone else in my area code who has caller ID and ask that person to permit me to hook up my phone to see if the display worked. The best part of this advice is that I found a better phone at the same price. Assured that my caller ID function worked, I called "customer service" again and discovered that they wanted me to package the phone, ship it back to them, and wait six to eight weeks for a replacement. I do not recommend this phone, and I regret that AT&T has licensed its name to the company that manufactured this "product."

This phone mounts well on our kitchen wall and works fine. Only negative so far is that the hook that keeps the phone handset connected to the base seems pretty cheap.

Excellent land-line wall phone,

I bought this phone as a standard direct land-line phone, wall-mounted, that I could count on 24/7 regardless of any possible power failure that would knock out the more common base-dependent satellite phones that require electricity to work. Standard "Bell System" style phones like these operate with current supplied from the local Telco central office battery power and will give you a dial tone even in a local area power blackout. (Did you know that? I'm a Telco retiree (:>)).
Anyway, this is a great standard phone. The caller id display is contrast-only, and sometimes is hard to read without proper lighting. In other words, you can't see the display in the dark. Also, the phone utilizes two AA batteries for certain functions such as the blinking light to indicate a call that has come in. You need to press the review button to go through the caller id list to stop the blinking light else the batteries will drain. Very minor issue. This is a perfect replacement / stand-in for the old Bell System phone you remember from before the breakup of Ma Bell. I recommend adding a 25 foot cord, available on Amazon as well as at your local Home Depot. I have used it for a couple of months now and have found that the handset is not susceptible to falling out of the wall-mounted cradle, although it does require paying attention to placing it in the cradle properly (as opposed to the usual teen offspring style of tossing it towards the cradle and expecting it to "magnetically hold"). Earpiece volume is no problem (and adjustable), and people on the other end hear me fine as well. My wife likes it, that should be the final straw. Like I say, this will work even when the power goes out. You should have at least one of these in your house, don't depend solely on the electricity-based phone units with satellite locations, all of which have to be plugged into an outlet. Even the base unit will be useless if your power is out. Landline phones like this will work from phone company-provided power.

I needed a wall phone with caller ID that you could see before picking it up so this seemed perfect since they are hard to find. However, the LCD is small and light, difficult to see. This is with the contrast adjusted as much as possible and fresh batteries. Otherwise a nice phone with a good concept.

It is nice to have a corded phone with caller-id built in. But the caller-id screen is not lighted or backlit. The picture clearly shows it is, but it is not and this is very irritating. You cannot see the caller-id unless you have another light on. For the price though it is still a pretty good deal. Do a search for 'bedroom phone' and you will see a few that are backlit/lighted, but they are quite a bit more expensive.

Makes calls, receives calls...BUT LED comes and goes randomly (supposed to flash to indicate new calls); LCD display comes and goes; and does not reliably save calls in list. Mine must have an electronics problem.
