5.0 out of 5 stars Big Punch in a Small Box
The AT&T 435 Caller ID unit is excellent. It pack a bunch of great features in a small box. Display is easy to read. Setup was a snap. It has many of the features the more expensive boxes have. Don't waste your money buying one of them. This is the absolute best bargin for a great caller id. I like the real time clock read out that stays on all the time not just...

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for single line phones
Do NOT try to use it with a phone that supports one than one line though. It will cut off the call you are on everytime someone rings in. Otherwise wonderful for a desk top unit.

It's the best caller id I have ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, August 23, 2000

After a hideous experience with the Southwestern Bell caller id/call waiting box (which constantly indicated that there was a call waiting when there wasn't- doing so every 5-10 minutes!!), this little ATT unit was a breath of fresh air.

One great thing about it is that it does not mute the call waiting beep, like many other caller id boxes do, so that there is no confusion when you have a new call coming in while you are on the phone. The box itself is very easy to use and set up. A light glows if you have new calls, so you can check your phone with just a glance when you come home and know whether or not you need to check your messages. It's so easy to use and very easy to review your calls, it's just a great box. I'm really happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm replacing other caller ID boxes with the 435, December 14, 2000

Other caller ID boxes cannot match up with the AT &T 435. I tried the Cidco and the Southwestern Bell and the 435 does much more than these others. It's also a great value. I especially like the message waiting feature that works with phone company voice mail.

4.0 out of 5 stars AT&T -- just short of greatness, September 8, 2001

Leave it to AT&T to stop just short of greatness.

This is almost the perfect caller ID box -- tons of features, easy to use, understated design -- the big flaw? It doesn't light up! When a call comes in, you have to strain to read the black letters and numbers against the dark gray background!

Listen up, AT&T -- for a couple of pennies more, you could have made a perfect Caller ID box!

4.0 out of 5 stars Passes two lines (but operates on primary line only), August 17, 2001

This is probably the best caller ID that I've had (and I've tried several). One of the things that I like is that it actually passes all four wires (two pairs) through to the phone, which allows it to be used with two-line phones without adding a splitter and more cable. You have to use four wire cables though, and not the cheaper 2 wire single line cables it comes with. It only shows the caller ID info on calls coming in on the primary line, however (except at my house where the crosstalk between lines is extreme). The "voice mail message waiting" indicator (a flashing light) is a great feature.

I was extremely happy with the performance of this Caller ID. The setup was real easy and it can store upto 50 calls which is really nice. You never know when you might need the number of somebody who had called up a while back. Also the red light indicator indicates if there is a call, which is quite helpful.
All in all I would say that this Caller ID is simply great.

2.0 out of 5 stars This thing zapped my phone lines!!, August 17, 2000

I was excited to receive the 2 units I bought but the day after I connected them, all my phonelines went dead. After three days of waiting for the phone company to come out to the house, they tested everything and said it was one of the caller id units that was causing a short in our lines. We couldn't even use the product and it caused a great deal of inconvenience. Very disappointed.

Just Plug it in and it works. True Plug and Play. Lets me decide if I want to talk to the person before I pick up the phone. A must in a small office or home office. We all get those calls from people we don't necessarily want to talk to.
