Caller ID, call waiting and call conferencing features ensure you don't miss those most important calls. With up to 14 minutes of recording time, the digital answering system answers calls when you can't. The phone system works very well. The phone and buttons have a very nice feel, enough ring tone selections, great feel to the buttons, and clear audio. What I miss most is a headset jack. But it seems few systems have headset jacks anymore. In its place is a press to talk option (on this system). In its place on more expensive models is bluetooth support (but not this one). The speakerphone works great which I use for my home office in lieu of a headset. The equalizer button is nice too.

The audio quality is at least as good as my previous phone system. I did think the audio by default seemed to have more treble by default which was perfectly okay, but sounded better if I switched it to "bass" mode by the equalizer button. The equalizer button is easier than I thought. It doesn't bring up a menu with sliders, but instead just cycles through a few choices (normal, treble 1, treble 2, and bass). While it doesn't remember the setting from the last call, it is sure easy to just press it a few times. Due to the more treble on neutral, I think the two treble settings are completely useless being too high. But neutral and bass sound good and great to me. However, what surprised me was the audio quality for the other end, who is talking to you. I called home to my wife from a work phone (land-line) and through that the audio quality of her voice was much clearer than the previous phone system. I was really surprised. I think "HD audio" is a gimmick, and nothing too special on the end using the phone, but from the other end calling in to someone on this phone, I noticed a difference compared to my previous system. So maybe it is "HD audio" for the other person.

Setting up and adjusting settings is very easy and done by any of the hand sets.

I have had a GE cordless for several years. One of the handsets got ruined so I decided to get a new one with more handsets. I bought another GE it was aweful I couldn't hear the callers on any of the 4 handsets. I returned it.
I did some research and found that AT&T made a good cordless so I bought the CL82401. It has 4 handsets, intercom, push to talk, speakerphone all kinds of features, best of all the call quality is great.
The only thing I wish it had was a lit dial, for night time. But other than that it's a great phone especially for the price with 4 handsets.
I think the previous review was unfair, this phone is not advertised as a 2 line phone.

I purchased this phone system to replace an old digital Panasonic cordless phone. In short, this thing is a piece of junk. The voice quality from the handsets is far inferior to my older existing phones. The sound is fuzzy. I am amazed that anyone thinks it sounds clear. Maybe my particular unit has an issue, but I think this is just an example of how the quality of cordless phones is being downgraded, particularly with the ATT label. On the plus side, the features on the phone are good, and the answering machine has voice quality among the best I have heard on a digital home system. It is still not as good as the quality of voice mail messages, but quite acceptable. The quality of the unit is questionable. I purchased the unit as a newly released model, so it was not sitting on the store shelf long, and out of the box some of the battery packs would not charge. I discovered part of the issue was that three of the hand sets did not seem to charge the batteries. I returned this system to the store and bought last years model (EL52400), and there is no comparison. The sound quality is good, and the answering machine messages are as clear as the newer model. The only drawback is that it does not have some of the features of the newer model. I also tried out the competing Panasonic KX-TG4034 system, and it has good sound quality, and the features are as good if not better than the new model ATT phone. The answering machine is ok, but not quite as clear as the ATT systems. I think that the older phones still have better sound quality, but the bar has been lowered with the new systems. I guess that's what happens when one can get four phones today for the price of one 5-10 years ago.

I picked this phone system because it was AT&T and that is what we had previously. I specifically wanted the talking caller ID again but this one tries to pronounce the name and our old system just gave you the number. The name pronunciations are not very good and it seems a bit too delayed as the phone rings almost 3 times before you hear the caller ID. Also, our old system allowed you to use the handset while listening to a voice message and this one does not. Little features that aren't a big deal, but I was used to having them. In addition there have been times when the phone is very staticy when I'm trying to talk. I usually have to hang up and redial to get a clearer connection - not sure if it's the phone or our lines.

This phone is without a doubt the best cordless phone. Everything about it works perfect. I am amazed at the battery life. I can talk for hours with very little depletion of the battery. I also bought two additional accessory handsets to go with it giving me a total of six and the performance of all of them is perfect. I would recommend this phone system without any reservation.
