5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST cordless phone system available!
I received this phone as a gift after my GE 900MHz died during its first year. I owned an AT&T cordless phone for about ten years, and I only paid about $50 for it at the time. Once it was time for a new one I quickly bought the GE 900MHz since it was cheap and I was in a hurry. What a mistake!

2.0 out of 5 stars Lasted for only a year
I bought this phone when it first came out and paid around 70.00 for it. A year later one of the receivers will not answer incoming calls. I can call out on it but will not let me answer. I have contacted ATT about this problem and they have no clue what it going on and don't really seem to care. I love the phone besides this problem but cannot give it a good review for...

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST cordless phone system available!, October 18, 2005
This review is from: AT&T E2725B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System (Office Product)

Like I said, this phone was a gift since it was known I was desperately looking for another reliable phone. I am extremely happy with this cordless phone and answering system! AT&T is a VERY reliable brand and stands by their products. I'll run through some of the main features to help you with your decision.

Cell Phone-like design: These phones are small in design but not too small for someone with vision problems. Similar to cell phones, these phones feature green and red buttons with phone icons on them for the "on" and "off" which are also labled.

Smart directory: Also similar to cell phones, these phones feature a revolutionary smart directory. You can store names and numbers which are automatically alphabetized for quick dialing. Another nice perk is that once you add numbers to the phone book, the name you enter for a number is how it will be displayed on Caller ID when that person calls. For example, if you enter Samantha for 555-555-5555 in the directory, it will show up as...
Samantha
555-555-5555
instead of Doe, Samantha or whatever else. It is necessary to include the area codes in the numbers if you wish to take advantage of this feature, even for local numbers, and you can dial the area code with local numbers without any problems or extra charges to your phone bill. This directory is stored in the base unit, so both handsets share the information without having to enter numbers into both phones.

Speakerphone: Both handsets have fully functional speakerphones which are very convenient and sacrifice nothing with regards to quality of sound.

Digital Answering System: This is once of the easiest answering systems to set up and use. The systems will announce choices in the menu and the display will show you whether the option is currently selected as "on" or "off." Remote access also comes standard.

Extra handset: The extra handset only requires a standard AC outlet without having to be plugged into a phone line. This was a great feature for me, since I didn't care where the base unit was but wanted total freedom as to where the extra handset was located. This freedom is great! Total convenience!

I'm sure there are many more features about this phone that I love, but these are the ones that come to mind the most. If you have been looking for a great phone and don't want to settle, this is the one for you. The price is definitely well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars a good portable phone at a good price, July 10, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AT&T E2725B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System (Office Product)
I like this one. It does everything I want a phone to do, including report voice mail messages. The caller id, call waiting, and missed call features all work fine. It was easy to set up and I am not a techie by any means. I recently bought and returned a defective Panasonic phone (after hours with tech support), similar to this except it had more power and was more than twice the price. It was difficult to set up and did not display missed calls on both headsets. Also, if I answered on one headset it reported a missed call on the other (!?) I gave it a negative review. This one is fine. It is totally adequate as far as power goes (I have a small house), and it was up and running in no time. It's a winner. couldn't ask for more. . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy for Phone Answering System!, February 25, 2006

Dual handset with phone answering system. Nothing fancy, just good quality and easy-to-setup and use. The push buttons on the phone are great. Last phone I had (same 2 phone type system)from Panasonic, the contacts on the pushbuttons were lousy. This is WAY WORTH THE MONEY!

I bought this to replace a new Uniden that had pretty terrible sound quality. For $17 more, this AT&T phone is worlds apart as far as the quality of sound. Loud and clear! I also like some of the features like being able to use them in "walkie-talkie" mode, a button on the base station that helps you find a wayward handset, the fact that phone numbers are stored in the base station and not in individual phones (no need to transfer the phone listings to the other phone), 10 different ring tones to choose from, easy setup, nice keys and display, any key answering, etc.

The only thing I thought was odd was the way the time was announced: "Tuesday, 7:02 PM, 2006". Does 2006 really need to be in there? If so, why not include the month and day? But I'm being picky. It's a great set of phones.

This review is from: AT&T E2725B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System (Office Product)
My previous phone was an AT&T also. However, I wanted an extra hand set for one of my other rooms. Pleased with my pevious phone I elected to choose AT&T again. I am completely satisfied with my choice and would recommened it to anyone. All the features are outstanding and the ease of use is great. I am glad I selected another AT&T product again. Ed

2.0 out of 5 stars Not happy at all, December 24, 2006
This review is from: AT&T E2725B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System (Office Product)
The price seemed great for a brand name phone, but the sound is awful - it echos and scratches and switching channels makes no difference at all. I've had 2.4 GHz phones before that sounded just fine, so I do not think that is the problem. Frequently, the phone will not connect when the talk button is pressed the first time. I have to press off -then phone -then off- then phone until a connection finally is made. The worst thing is you can only speak on one phone at a time. Each phone acts independently - so will not function as an extension. You can switch to speaker phone, but it requires everyone be in the same room to hear. The speaker phone quuaity is only fair. I needed a 2nd extension and it was not clear to me in the description that this phone would not work that way. The only thing I like is the answering machine. The answering maching is easy to operate and clear.

I am on my way out to buy another phone from a different company.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works OK: wall mount, WiFi and callback number issues, September 6, 2006

These phones work as I expected from a name-brand handset; as with most cordless phones they have an option to change channel ranges if you're getting poor signal quality.

I've seen 3 issues of some importance to me:
* There's no good way to mount this on the wall - the base and charger units are not designed to hold the handsets any way other than upright. The wall mounting option for the base is effectively a small shelf with clips to hold the base solidly; as noted by one other person this means that you have to either mount it low or be tall.
* It does interfere with 802.11b/802.11g channels 1-4, but just about any 2.4GHz handset is going to interfere in some part of the range that wireless networks use. Before you buy these, confirm that your wireless network will work properly on channel 6 or 11 just in case a neighbor has a powerful cordless that interferes in those ranges.
* It doesn't save the information on dialing format and area code, so to return a call using the Caller ID information you're probably going to have to press # one or more times first to change the display format (and the number it's going to dial). Pressing # rotates between the formats yyy-yyy-yyyy, 1-yyy-yyy-yyyy, yyy-yyyy, 1-yyy-yyyy.

Update: After a bit more use I think I'd drop this to 3 stars for one reason - because the message count display is recessed fairly deeply it's difficult or impossible to see unless you're looking down at the machine from within 2-3 feet. That's fairly annoying if your phone outlets aren't conveniently placed (one good reason to get a cordless).

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AT&T E2725B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System (Office Product)
i bought these phones because of the good reveiws. i'm not impressed. everything works as far as the features go so far. the range isn't that great. if i go outside it gets static. oh yeah i bought this phone on feb. 20, 07, guess what the battery in one phone doesn't work anymore. they both worked fine and one morning the phone rang accept that phone and after playing with it figured out it was the battery. this phone was the second base unit so it's not used very much and i've only had the phones for 5 weeks. there's no reason the battery should be dead. i'm calling at&t to see if they will send me a new battery since it's under the year warrenty, i'll let ya now what happens. so it's an OK phone in my opinion. i'd look for something a little better. at&t have better phones.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great features but horrible voice quality, January 12, 2006
This review is from: AT&T E2725B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System (Office Product)
This phone has a lot of great features, but it is packaged with a horrible sound quality answering machine. You and anyone calling you can ALL sound like they are using a computer to do their talking for them. You will not be able to recognize the persons voice. I tried this phone after having a Uniden digital answering machine/phone for 10 years. I returned the ATT phone 8 hours after buying it.
