I researched so many phones. I returned three phones that I was not happy with, of various makes. I have heard the statement made by several different consumers that AT&T makes the best phones. I had an older version that I used for several years and gave it to my parents about ten years ago and they are still using it! They love the speaker phone option. I like the speaker phone volume on this phone. I also like the option for blue-tooth celular. I rate this phone in the top 3 choices out there.

Mom is getting hard of hearing and this product was recommended by a friend, far more deaf than Mom. Using the speaker phone option, she can hear the person on the other end very clearly and they can hear her. I called from a noisy airport and talked very low, but (for the first time in years), she picked up every word clearly. If only to buy for a hard of hearing parent, it beats a lot of products devoted to assist in this area.

I bought this phone for myself as my old 900Mhz phone was showing it's age, and I was looking for an upgrade. I like the quality of this phone. The cosmetics look very attractive. The speaker phone in the handset is a great addition. The only thing I wish was a little better is the fact that the handset volume doesn't go as loud as I'd like for some people that have quiet phones. Sometimes, depending on who I call, I have to listen very hard to hear the person as the volume doesn't go up too high. Other than that it's a great phone, and expanding it to 2 handsets was a breeze.

Short answer-the buttons on the handset have a strange feel, and the base unit is over-styled. The only reason to get this phone over a Panasonic model is for better wall mounting.

If you are going to wall mount a phone, this is a better option than the Panasonics. The Panasonics mount as if they are sitting on a shelf. This unit mounts at an angle, so it sticks out much less than the Panasonic.
Although this phone is advertized as a 5.8 phone, the print on the box and the manual state that it also uses 2.4. You might need to change the channel on the router if it interferes with the phone. Supposedly, the channel the phone uses on 2.4 is not supposed to interfere with the channel a router uses on 2.4. All 5.8 phones may also use 2.4, so I don't know if this is a problem only with this phone.
Sound quality is fine. I did not have interference with my router.
This phone may also be sold with more than one handset, which would save money over buying this phone with one handset and then adding the additional ones for $30/handset.
The base unit is over-designed in my opinion. Too many different colors and unnecessary writing. You can see this from the picture. In my opinion, if ATT (vtech) is reading this, you should tone down the designs of your phones.

I bought this phone for my business, and generally really like its performance. However, there is one BIG flaw in its design. If you try to hold it against your cheek to talk hands-free, the way the buttons are designed causes it to disconnect. The Off button is right where your chin contacts the body of the phone. I thought I goofed once, but it's happened every time I did it (on purpose to see if I was just imagining things or doing something wrong). Other than that, I love the phone. The range is great and the voice quality equal to everything else out there. Just don't try to talk hands free without using the speaker function.

I take this phone outside sometimes and no problems with reception. The speaker phone is very good too, easy to hear. No need for an extra handset, you can take the handset anywhere around the house.

nice small phone that has worked fine for 3 mo. now. only thing i miss from my older one is voice caller id. worth the $$ so far.

I have always purchased Panasonic phones specifically because the keypad on their phones lit up with every incoming call. This feature is great for someone - like myself, who has trouble hearing. So if I can't hear the phone ringing I can atleast see it light up. My old Panasonic began to give me trouble and I needed to purchase a new phone and that's when I decided to try the AT&T 5.8 Ghz Cordless. I was amazed by the sound quality as well as the different ring tones and volume features. I like the fact that if the phone is ringing and I don't want to answer but want the ringing to stop, I just simply press the off button and the ringing stops and goes into message mode after the fourth ring (that's what I have it set for). I love this phone so much, I purchased one for my friend who absolutely loves it and I am ordering another one for myself. This phone provides great quality for a great price! I highly recommend buying this phone!

This was a great purchase. I upgraded from a 900mhz to this 5.8ghz. Very nine phone with great features. Is also expandable. Found phone at Office Max for 49.99 plus I used a $10 off coupon making it even a better deal.

I have had this phone for several years and really find it does everything I want. Has a very long battery life.
