1.0 out of 5 stars Why is is so hard to find a decent phone!, October 15, 2008

This review is from: AT&T E5945 5.8 GHz 4 Handset Answering System with Caller ID (Black) (Office Product)
I really had hope for this phone but an really disappointed! fist disappointment was when i recorded my message callers will hear, the quality of this recording is the worst I ever heard, i sounded like a robot. I would think this is something that would get better with new technology but this is obviously not the case! The ATT stand alone message machine i had years ago sounded like a human actually recorded the message.

Second disappointment, trying to hold the phone without hands, This is something i would think people would want to do from time to time but i guess the designers of this phone don't! The phone is designed in such a way that it is almost impossible to hold to your ear without hands, i find this inexcusable!

Third, If a cell phone is anywhere near the base station i get a loud blast of interference in my ear! Doesn't anyone at ATT use cell phones?

Fourth, I do not want to hear "you have 2 new messages" every time I go to play my messages. The brilliant ATT engineers seem to think we need to see a #2 on the message machine indicating there are 2 messages in bright red but this is not enough we need the machine to tell us just in case we didn't see it!

I wish Apple would design a home phone, i could see it now designed for ease of use and comfortable to use without hands, when I enter numbers into one handset all the others would update so i wouldn't have to enter my contacts times, once for each handset!

This phone set was the greatest disappointment as far as phones are concerned. I figured the ATT name would guarantee a quality product but was I wrong. This had happened to me once before with another ATT branded phone but figured it was a fluke....NOT!
Right away the initial quality...fit, feel and construction seemed shabby....but hey for the money I was OK if it actually worked to make a call....like a phone is supposed to. Well one handset was never able to "find a channel" when I dialed....and the others could not once I moved more than 20' from the base. I had to stay on the same floor where the base was located if I wanted use these....what good is 4 handsets on the same floor when I live in a split level home, hoping I could put one handset on each floor.
