Product Description

A two-line corded/cordless phone system from AT&T, the E2662 is an ideal model for today's busy household or small office. With an all-digital answering system and multi-user expandability eight cordless handsets (two included), the phone offers both flexibility and convenience. By utilizing the 2.4 GHz band and digital frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, the E2662 offers clearer reception and less interference than traditional 900 MHz phones. --------------- The digital answering machine provides up to 25 minutes of recording time, while a remote message check feature lets you keep track of messages even when you are away from home. Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the E2662 has a 50-number caller ID memory, while a 50-number phone directory provides an easy way to keep track of important phone numbers. ----------------- The base unit has a data port which can be used to hook up external devices such as a fax machine. A speakerphone on both the base and handsets combine with headset compatibility (also on both the base and handsets) to provide hands-free communication options. Handset and ringer volume controls are provided, while an illuminated keypad makes dialing easy, even in dark environments. An intercom function lets you talk between handset locations, while up to seven-way conferencing allows you to communicate with multiple parties at the same time. The E2662 also comes backed with a one-year warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone! I Love it!, July 23, 2007
By
This review is from: AT&T 2.4 GHz 2-Line Expandable Phone System E2662B w Corded Answering Machine and 2 Cordless Handsets (Electronics)
The 2-line AT&T Phone E2662B has some great features. I noticed that it is important to read the handbook prior to using the phone. This would avoid some of the problems encountered in earlier reviews.

1. Line 1 or line 2 can be selected from the base prior to picking up the handset. Also, phone numbers can be predialed prior to picking up the handset.

2. The sound quality of the answering machine is very good. Messages are not cut off. If they are, it is an isolated incident and the phone needs to be returned and replaced. Different messages can be recorded for lines 1 and 2. You can choose to have only one mailbox on or off or both. Calls can be prescreened. The intercom can be used to contact a family member in another part of the house.

3. Each cordless handset can be personalized i.e., Deck, Garage, Bathroom, etc. The base is automatically updated when the cordless handset is changed. It is great because phones can be placed in areas where you do not normally have phone jacks.

IMPORTANT NOTE! YOU MUST USE A DUAL JACK OR ADAPTER AND FEED PHONE LINES 1 & 2 SEPARATELY INTO THE BASE TO PREVENT HEARING CONVERSATIONS ON BOTH LINES.

Con: If a phone call is answered at the base then picked up from one of the cordless phones in the set, the phone call will be dconnected from the base when the call is disconnected from the cordless phone even while holding the handset of the base.

3.0 out of 5 stars love the phone - hate the answering machine, October 29, 2006

The phone, overall is good however I wish it would let me designate which line is my primary and pick that one on the base when I lift the handset (primary is Line 2).

The answering machine is JUNK - it ALWAYS, AND I MEAN ALWAYS cuts off incoming messages, even short ones. And, for some reason, many callers get interrupted in the middle of their message with "Please enter the access code". What is this?

I bought this phone for my home office.
The cordless phone has major interference from my wwireless internet router. I was on the phone with phone company for 6 hours and even had a tech come to my house.
The only way to resolve the problem is to unplug the router.
I would not buy this phone if you are worried about interference.
maybe a 5.8 ghz would be better
