The E5630 from AT&T is a complete message center that can grow along with your needs. This stylish cordless phone system is multi-user expandable to four handsets (one included), allowing you to add an additional phone location anywhere you need. The E5630 utilizes the 5.8 GHz analog frequency, which offers increased clarity and range when compared to many older phones.
The E5630 is caller ID and call waiting compatible, and has a 50-number caller ID memory. A 50-number phone directory is also provided, and the display-and-dial feature lets you scroll through the caller ID or phone directory lists and call the displayed number simply by pressing Talk. The handset LCD menu can be set to one of three languages (French, English, or Spanish), and you can easily adjust both handset and ringer volume levels. You can utilize the intercom feature to talk between handset locations, or use the handset-to-handset call transfer function to route incoming calls to another phone location. Three-way conferencing allows two handsets to simultaneously communicate with an outside call, and a page button lets you quickly and easily locate a misplaced handset.
The all-digital answering machine provides 17 minutes of recording time, with a 4-minute maximum message length. With memo recording, you can record a note to yourself or leave a message for another household member. If you are away from home, you can also keep on top of your messages with the remote operation feature. Simply key in the security code and access the answering machines features from afar. The E5630 is headset compatible and comes with a belt-clip for hands-free conversation. You can mount the phone on a desk or wall, while the built-in speakerphone allows you to answer calls using just the base unit. The E5630 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

Almost Perfect,

I purchased this phone along with a second handset. What a tremendous improvement over my two-year-old Motorola system. The Motorola was 2.8 so it's difficult to compare, but it simply was never comfortable to the ear, battery life was limited, it didn't have much of a range and the construction simply fell apart.
This new AT&T system is nearly perfect. I especially like the fact that you can enter your complete address book on the base system and all of that info carries over to the handset(s)! It's also is exceptionally comfort-fitting to the ear, easy to operate, and has a tremendous range. If I have any single complaint it is that there is no speed-dial; locating a phone number takes several key strokes and then yet another to dial the number. But that is a minor concern. In total, I highly recommend this product! No option for 4.5, but that's my rating.

Excellent phone, but LCD screens failed after a few years,

We purchased this phone about 5 years or so ago and have been very pleased with it. It consisted of the base unit plus three cordless extension phones. One of the extension phones died within a year and was replaced under warranty. After about three years or so, the LCD screens started to fail -- only parts of the characters were displayed. This failure began about the same time on all of the phones -- so I would guess that the LCD screen components have a fairly limited life. After limping along for a couple of years with difficulty of trying to read the malformed caller id and phonebook letters and names, we replaced the system. If it wasn't for the failure of the LCD screens, I imagine that we would have continued to use it for many more years.
