not a bad phone, love the keyboard,
By
This review is from: AT&T Quickfire Phone, Silver (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I have this phone for about a week now. Overall, it's not bad. You can dial/type either with the touch screen key pads or use the full keyboard. Texting is so easy now. This is one of the few phone with full keyboard where you don't have to purchase the data plan! It can connect to your computer via bluetooth, but i haven't try that yet.
Now, the not so great things: 1) I haven't been able to find away to turn of the 3G. Doing so will extend battery talk time. So for now, I have to charge it every other day based on average use. 2) It is a bit heavier than what I would like. 3) Being a new phone, not much assessories are available yet. I'm still waiting a car charger and a stereo headset (not bluetooth). 4) Camera is a bit weak, but i don't really use it so that's ok.

Why the quickfire is a better choice than the iphone 3g,
By
This review is from: AT&T Quickfire Phone, Silver (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
Being an Iphone 3g owner for the past 6months- let me tell you why the quickfire is better choice than the Iphone 3g
The Iphones touch screen keyboard is a pain to use for text and emails and the autocorrect feature has the brain of a pre-schooler so you constantly have to delete the filled in words making long texts and emails unpractical. Second- receiving and sending MMS is not possible yet there are apps to pay for that do a subpar job- but in essence it does not work effectively. Having bluetooth headphones you have to have a separate adaptor to sync with the iphone such as the motorola S9 with the quickfire easy sync and pair and great control over volume and songs. The Iphone requires a $30 a month data plan the quickfire does not and if you want unlimited it is only $15 a month. The quickfire has a decently responsive touchscreen close to the iphones with a quick portrait landscape switch when opening the slide out keyboard. The keyboard lights up nicely and fits even above average fingers. Negatives with the quickfire 1.3 camera, however the pics look good on the screen not so good if you upload to computer- but iphones 2mega is not much better. The camera is bulky, however it is curved nicely and is more durable than other texting phones such as the pantech line which feels as if they are going to break in my hand. Battery life given the features and 3g phone is good- as well as the 2.8 inch screen in terms of resolution and color. Overall for getting the phone for nearly $200 less than the iphone its a steal not to mention that this phone is better than the sidekick for the touchscreen and higher quality screen with more features-

Wish there was a 0 star option,
This review is from: AT&T Quickfire Phone, Silver (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I bought this phone for a reduced price almost a year ago with a new contract from ATT. Really wish I had got the Matrix that my brother chose that was for free.
I HATE THIS PHONE! 1. Touch screen is either unresponsive or chooses the wrong "button." More than half the time it chooses an icon on the opposite side of the screen! 2. Battery life sucks! I have to charge it every night with very little use. If I use the phone how I'd like to (moderately heavy use) then I have to have it fully charged, charge again in the afternoon, and charge again at night. 3. The phone doesn't recognize when you set an individual ringtone for people in your address book. Tried to update my software (an option in the settings) to fix it, which kept saying "FAILED TO CONNECT." 4. After about 4 months I had a software glitch in which caused my phone to turn off when choosing my txt msg inbox. So I got a replacement phone with the insurance program. I THOUGHT that the previous software problems would be fixed (see #3). No such luck! 5. Phone fails to recognize the music/pictures on my SD card. The phone sometimes allows me to transfer info from my phone to the SD card but not usually. 6. Charger is set up completely STUPID! The two prongs have been bent from my having to charge it so much. Now I have to slide the charger in at an angle and push one prong into place so it will charge. Also sometimes the phone recognizes the charger as a USB Cable and won't charge until it recognizes that it's really a charger. Also the charger falls out easily and wiggles in the phone and everytime the charger wiggles a message pops up that says "Charger Connected" or "Charger Disconnected" which is really annoying when you're responding to a text or looking for something online while charging the phone. 7. There is no WiFi option to connect to a faster network when available. And 3G won't turn off so I can have the battery last a little bit longer. 8. Messages often have the wrong timestamp, or are displayed in the wrong order. Phone doesn't even receive most of the messages I receive from my friend's Moto Cliq. All the pictures I receive from Moto Cliq are shown as a black screen. 9. Speaker phone is very quiet and the mic isn't strong enough for the other person to hear you when on speakerphone. I have never dropped this phone, never gotten it wet, and never been rough with it. I got a case for it same day as purchase. All of the problems I've had with this phone were for my original phone and my replacement phone (wish I'd been able to choose a different replacement). I've gone into several ATT stores to see if there was a way I could get the software update, or if they'd ever heard of any problems. Finally a nice guy names eric checked the customer complaints for the phone. Apparently, tons of people have the same software and ringtone assignment problems. He said ATT no longer carries the phone for sale so they have no intention of fixing the problem. NEVER EVER GET THIS PHONE! DON'T EVEN GIVE IT TO YOUR ENEMY! It's that bad! Thank heavens my upgrade is next week, I can't wait to smash and burn this phone, because it's not even worth donating.

It's Quickfire for a reason, overheating and catching on fire.,

I got this phone as a replacement for my Impression. Upon opening it, I realized right away that it was an extremely cheap and poorly assembled phone. I was fooled by the pictures, making the Quickfire look sleek and attractive, yet when I fiddled with the device I noticed that the touch screen wasnt responding to my fingers. No matter how hard I pressed or how many times I pressed the phone just wouldnt respond, and on the odd chance it did, it would go to the option or number below or above the one I touched.
Also the internet navigation was painfully slow. It took me 8 minutes to download a 90 second video, so I checked to see what others said about the phone and it turns out everyone who had it seems to hate it. It was even recalled about two months ago for overheating and catching on fire. Please... dont waste your time with this phone. It may be cheap but its not worth the trouble.

A little sluggish..,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AT&T Quickfire Phone, Silver (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I bought this phone for my son shortly after it released. The design is nice and it seems pretty durable. He has dropped it a few times and the phone is still in perfect shape. The keyboard is pretty comfortable to use and the size/weight of the phone is about as expected for a slide out.
The major downfall of this phone is that alot of times the screen doesn't recognize your touch, or it activates a different function, as if you touched slightly higher, or slightly lower. Very annoying when trying to go through your text message list and choose one or something like that. Response time is slow as well. It is an ok phone for a kid/tween/teen, but I couldn't see using it myself. I just don't like the sluggishness and I don't like the lack of response or incorrect response of a touch command. Call quality seems to be good and there are a good amount of features (for a teen). The camera is not that great in my opinion, but I am used to Nokia camera phones and I do believe they have the best cameras on their phones. The other problem with this phone is with the charger. If anyone is unaware, they overheat and supposedly can catch fire. AT&T has sent replacement chargers to anyone who purchased a QuickFire. We received ours a few weeks ago. We did not contact AT&T about it, they just sent it on their own. We had no idea it was even being sent to us. It just showed up in the mail one day. I did not purchase the phone from AT&T either. Actually, I never purchase any of our phones from the carrier. You always get better phones either free or at least a heck of alot cheaper through 3rd parties.

AT&T Quickfire... Great for Free Upgrade! Not so great if you paid $330,
By Ronnie G "~Ron G" (Marysville, Ca) - See all my reviews
This review is from: AT&T Quickfire Phone, Silver (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I just received my AT&T Quickfire Phone today... and haven't really toyed around with it that much.. but from reading the specs on the phone and using it for texting for the past hour or so. I think it's a nice phone, for a free upgrade from AT&T. But I don't think I would shell out the 300+ $$ they are asking for this phone. I upgraded from my Samsung Blackjack 2 - which is all honesty is basically a downgrade. The Blackjack beats out the Quickfire in all categories except screen size and color contrast (the Quickfire having 18bit color and the Blackjack with 16bit) not a big difference at all.
The one thing I noticed is that the keyboard is pretty small.. and it's tough to get the buttons in the corners. If anyone has larger hands then this is going to be a problem when texting. The Blackjack is a lot easier to maneuver around with, while the Quickfire is a bit bulkier. Like I said, for a free upgrade.. you can't beat a touchscreen phone with these features! But if you were going to purchase a phone - I would go with the Blackjack & or a Blackberry.

This phone will all by itself have a alarm go off at 12:00am everyday; without you setting one. It Sucks cause you can not sleep. Both my wife's and mine does this.

This will do good enough for me as an sidekick.,
Think of this as a smaller version of the sidekick but for att. The OS on it favors the LG Vu/Shine OS. It's camera is great for a 2mp. The video record is average. The sound of the speakerphone is great. Supported my 8GB microSD chip. Plays mp3 and basic web browsing.
The slidout keyboard is great too. It's backlite and comes in handy when the touch screen isn't responding properly. I can't find the calibration settings but a simple reset/power on off seems to do the trick. Battery life is average, I get about a 10hr of a little more than normal use. So thats good for me.

The AT&T QuickFire fell into our hands briefly, and while we didn't have time to do the usual in-depth SlashGear review, we thought you might be interested in our first-impressions of this Sidekick-styled handset. Formerly known as the UTStarcom Knick, the QuickFire is a quadband GSM, triband UMTS slider with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display; slide that up, and there's a full QWERTY keyboard.

Too many expensive requirements,
By Mart "MHED-MART Entertainment" (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: AT&T Quickfire Phone, Silver (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
Amazon requires you to purchase a monthly PDA account with this phone for either 30.00 or 60.00 per month, adding up to $720.00 a year for two years to your phone bill. AT&T doesn't require it. You would be better off to go through Radio Shack for 29.00 and not have the PDA requirement hung around your neck. Caveat Emptor - shop around!
