Good Phone, Many Features,
By
This review is from: AT&T 959 Speakerphone with Caller ID (White/Mist) (Office Product)
If you need a phone that does not require an AC wall plug, this is probably what you need. The description does not give the features, so here goes:It has Caller ID and if you have the service, Call Waiting ID. It has a 14 number quick dial, and a 25 number stored directory dial. You can store numbers from the Caller ID right into quick dial or the directory. You can redial numbers directly from the caller ID screen with the push of one button. It has a speakerphone, with mute, and volume control for the speaker phone. It has a hold button. All of the buttons are large enough that you don't feel like you're pecking at microdots. It is easily wall or desk mounted. The LCD screen is very visible, and can be adjusted for contrast. You have a choice of English, Spanish or French for the language. You can program in area codes if you have to always dial 10 numbers to make a call (I think this is called layering or somesuch by the phone companies). All in all, a lot of quality for a very reasonable price. Audio quality seems good, and I am a little hard of hearing in one ear, but there is no problem with this phone in that regard. It does require 4 AA batteries which are not included, but to be honest the batteries that get included with items are garbage anyway so you'd want to use quality batteries. If you need a corded phone, which you should have in the event of a power failure (your cordless phones will not work without AC power but phones plugged into a regular phone wall jack will work if the wires are not down), then this is going to be the phone for you. Go ahead, spend the money, you'll get a good quality phone.

Speaker OK for listening but not talking,
By
This review is from: AT&T 959 Speakerphone with Caller ID (White/Mist) (Office Product)
It's ok if you want to listen to your voice mail or when you're on perpetual hold but you cannot carry on a conversation because the microphone doesn't work. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because you can listen which is good for something.

Nice phone. Large buttons. Easy to program. Loud ringer.Speakerphone not as loud as it could be, other than that it is well worth the money.

As advertised,

I'm not sure why this item has received bad reviews, to me, it was all that was advertised and a real bargain at the price. The set-up is fairly simple; directions are good too. If you need a corded phone that requires no AC plugin, then by all means, this phone exceeds (my) expectations. For the folks that gave this product a bad review? all I can think is they got a lemon (or they are the lemon). To me, it was a good deal, and the speaker phone feature works well too.

Good corded phone.. But Microphone doesnt work,

This review is from: AT&T 959 Speakerphone with Caller ID (White/Mist) (Office Product)
I was looking for a cheap corded phone with speakerphone for my soho, and this worked... for a week. Then the microphone went, so no one could hear me. It's only $25 and it works great with every other feature, so I am going to keep it until I find a better speakerphone...

not too bad but eats batteries!,

This review is from: AT&T 959 Speakerphone with Caller ID (White/Mist) (Office Product)
I have found this phone acceptable, though I agree with those who have criticized the hiss. People can hear me on speakerphone. BUT, the phone just eats batteries! It requires 4 AA batteries, and for me they last only a couple of months. Whenever the batteries die, all the stored information dies with it! I'm looking for a replacement!

AT&T 959 Speaker with Caller ID a Winner,
This review is from: AT&T 959 Speakerphone with Caller ID (White/Mist) (Office Product)
I have been very pleased with this phone. I love the features such as, big buttons, the ability to distinguish whether you want the call history. It even gives you the option to decide whether you want to capture each call for those folks who call you 4 or 5 times or you can just lump it as a single entry with the last call information. I like the fact that it is not an answering machine since I have voice mail, but it is still has every other feature you could want on your phone. I highly recommend this phone if you just need a really good phone.

Bought this phone as it was advertised on an office supplies site as having a "QUALITY SPEAKERPHONE!" Oh you can hear the other party fine but NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU! I use my phone for work purposes and how embarrassing that I'd pushed THE SPEAKERPHONE BUTTON and was talking for about a min & a half before the other party uttered, "HELLO R U STILL THERE?!" I had assumed it would work right out of the box! I wish I had read reviews from here and other sites before buying this little number. The sound quality is not even that good. I thought it was my DSL (even with the filter hooked up to the phone) but there is an audible hisssssssss in the background when my PC and DSL are off! I guess I should not have expected the world for under $30 but @least pretty decent sound quality would be nice since the speakerphone doesn't work! Junk! I will not be buying any AT&T phones ever again and from some of the reviews I've seen of this particular model I'm assuming no one else wants to waste $ in these hard times!

worst phone ever! buyer beware,
By
This review is from: AT&T 959 Speakerphone with Caller ID (White/Mist) (Office Product)
I took back the first model of this to the store because if the phone was moved at all when the speaker was on, then it would hang up. But at least people could hear you. This new one still has issues - people can't hear you when you are on the speaker phone. If you are not planning on using the speaker phone functionality, then you are probably going to be okay, but if you are getting it for the speaker, then forget about it!

Two big problems,

Basically a nice phone, BUT:A: I've had three of these phones, and sooner or later the little repositionable hang-up tab snaps off, rendering it useless as a wall-mount, and B:I can hear well with the speaker phone, but have to shout to be heard. |
