I have bought a number of cordless telephones and been unhappy with the speaker quality and the directory quality. This ATT phone has excellent speaker qualities and the directory automatically alphabetizes entries. I also like that what I do to one phone directory, I do to all, BUT I can individualize the ring tone and volume for each phone. Three handsets means three handsets, not four as pictured. When I bought mine, the picture was accurate and showed only three total handsets, one base and 2 additional hand sets.

I bought this cordless telephone system through a marketplace merchant(since Amazon themselves wouldn't be able to supply this model until 2 month from now)
Despite installing the batteries correctly, and trying to charge the 3 handsets for a day(with the red power indicator on, and the display reading "Charging"), two of the three handsets still indicated "Low Battery", and the third handset's display didn't display anything, despite the fact that the red power indicator is on when the handset was in the base. Ultimately, for 2 of the 3 handsets that I struggled with, it took two and a half days of charging before the handsets would illuminate and operate properly. The supplied rechargable batteries had been supplied in an extremely depleted state, despite the factory seal on the carton. UPDATE:The 3 batteries supplied with this telephone set were bad batteries, which couldn't hold a charge for more than a day, even with the phones idle. I returned this cordless telephone set to the merchant and got a replacement set that works fine. The batteries supplied with the new set had enough power in them that the backlights illuminated immediate upon installing the batteries, and they fully charged up in less than a day. The phone system seems simple to use, and is working fine now, despite an extremely frustrating start. I would change the number of stars awarded to 4 stars, but Amazon's system to revise my review won't permit me to. The phones(even with the volume turned up), are not the world's loudest. they'll be fine for most people(including me), but not for my elderly mother.

These are very good phones. -- Good sound quality and dependable. They work much better than other cheap phones that I have had in the past.

I purchased the AT&T TL 71308 three phone package about a year ago. Of my three units one will hold a charge for about 3 minutes of talk time and the other poops out after less than 10 minutes of use, even less if you use it at a speaker phone. This is after sitting in the charge cradle for days. Naturally the phones are out of warranty and I find that the replacement battery BT5633 cost between $18 to $20 each. Replacing the three batteries will cost me a much as a I paid for the entire phone set. Friends of mine tell me of similar problems with these newer AT&T phones. As far as I am concerned I will replace the unit with another brand and will never buy another AT&T product again. I have A Uniden 2 phone system that is going strong after 5 years of use on the original batteries.

The quality of the phone and handsets are top notch, and has good features. How ever they are lacking in two primary areas for me. The ringtones are very generic and limited. In addition, I feel that each handset should blink if you have a voice-mail message and not just the base of the main phone. Other than those two items, I am quite pleased.

Forget about wall-mounting this one,

I bought this phone specifically because it can be wall-mounted. While the base is designed to fit onto a telephone wall plate, the wiring is not. Contrary to the instuctions, there is no way to fit the wires "behind the base unit" and still get it to mount on the wall. To do this, I will have to buy a special short cable, which AT&T should have included with the unit. More cost, a lot of hassle. Sound quality is very good. But forget about mounting this one on the wall easily.

Strong phone,
This review is from: AT&T TL71308 5.8GHz Digital Three Handset Cordless Telephone (Titanium and Metallic Charcoal) (Office Product)
I have gone through way too many phones over the past several years. Uniden, Panasonic and ATT. Oddly, what should be a basic item which is easy to use/operate with high quality is a difficult thing.
Good - Decent range but not great. I live in a three story brick 100+year old house so going from the second floor (north room) to the first floor (south room) usually doesn't work. Good - Enter a number into one phone book and they all have the number Bad - Fairly limited memory for phone book Good - Nice user interface and lighted dial. I do prefer the Panasonic UI however. Bad - whenever I use a headset (lots of conference calls) others on the call hear an echo. This is a new headset from Plantronics and others had the very same problem. Ergo, the phone is the culprit I think. It *could* be my VOIP service however...still testing this. In sum, I wouldn't pay more than a Panasonic equivalent for this setup. |
