I received the AT&T TL7600 Wireless Headset and promptly registered it to my At&T Dect 6.0 phone system. Great product!! My wife loved the quality of the sound, and especially the "hands free" operation. She also like the "over the head" holder. She found it comfortable & convenient to wear.

My problem was the design of the electronics. Once registered, this headset can not be reset independently from the base it is registered to. My AT&T phone system base failed / died. I was not able to un-register the headset from the "dead" base. I returned the original phone system for a replacement, but now the headset TL7600 was still registered to the defunct system and could not be reset. I could not register it to the new phone base/system. I contacted AT&T techical support, and they could only ship me out a new headset.

If I had bought a AT&T wireless headset #TL7610, I would have been able to reset the headset through the available program buttons mounted on the re-charger base. That would have saved me from returning my original purchased headset.

I now have a new TL7600, replacing the original, and programed to my newest phone system / base. I hope the base of this phone system does not fail, or I will have to go through the exchange process again (provided it happens during the first 30 days of exchange opportunity). If the base of the phone system dies after 30 days... I'm not sure of my options.

I had made quite an extensive search for a viable cordless headset technology and finally settled on DECT 6.0. I had tried bluetooth but the signal was weak and voice quality was poor. There are many products for wirelessly enabling corded PBX phones, but why go to the trouble and expense for a home/home office cordless?

I purchased the TL7600 with the TL92278 cordless phone/answering system. The TL7600 is a small, lightweight headset with a number of different ear plug/headset options. The signal strength and voice quality is very high and I can wander quite a ways from the base station without any degradation to the quality. The only issue I have is that the ear piece volume is too high. There is a volume control on the headset but it only goes down so far. I end up wearing the ear piece somewhat off my ear to muffle the sound.

Haven't tested the battery longevity but I am sometimes on a call for two to three hours and it's made it through. Muting control on the headset is a very nice feature, a small beep is heard every 15 seconds to let you know that you're still on mute. Despite this, I still forget if I'm on mute or not and waiting 15 seconds for that next beep can be pretty long.

The TL7600 does not have a dialer, it is intended to be used with an AT&T DECT 6.0 phone set. I will frequently wear the headset with it switched on while dialing with the handset switched on. This works fine but watch out if you switch the handset to speaker phone since you can get some loud feedback.

It may be easiest to think of this product as an AT&T DECT 6 handset with no screen and no dial pad. It pairs to any base in this AT&T line and works just like a handset - pick up an incoming call (push side button) and hang up when you're done (push button again). Dial calls on another handset and pick up on the headset while it's ringing. Mute the other handset to keep it on the line if you need to dial any numbers such as for voicemail or conference call. Use a handset for caller ID.

Pros:
* Excellent sound quality
* Easy to pair - worked the first time
* Easy to use - acts just like a handset that you hang on your ear

Cons
* Atrocious ear piece right out of the Spanish Inquisition - hard plastic shaped to fit right inside your ear canal. They made this one hard to fix but ... see below.
* Side button (answer/hang up) requires a hard push that makes even my cozy custom ear piece hurt. This button should really have been on the top (while on the left ear) of the unit which would make if vastly easier to use.
* Range is more like 50 feet across two stories than the advertised range. It may be possible to get more range if you live in an open field.

I have used lots of headsets and this one qualifies as "pretty good". Heavier than some others, more range than some, better voice quality than most.

I would have given this item three stars instead of four if not for the ease of use and sound quality. I saved some money by buying this with the AT&T CL82209 rather than as a standalone unit or with various more expansive AT&T DECT phones.

The earpiece that comes with the unit is an effective torture device but not so good for keeping in your ear over an extended period or using to answer or hang up the unit - i.e. ever. They made it a challenge to change the earpiece by building the earhook into it. The earpiece is removable however. I have an earpiece with an earhook from a deceased unit and modified this to fit over the speaker for the AT&T unit. As a bonus, the unit still fits on the charger stand without having to remove the earpiece.
