First glance at this console, you would think it was made a year or so ago, but actually made in 1986.
I bought mine, gave it a good clean up, unpeeling the protective film (no one ever knew that existed ) on the metal part made it shine like I bought it factory sealed the other day.
This is the best model of the Atari 2600 that even outbeats the 1983 Coleco Gemini (Atari 2600 clone). Especially a great console over the fact that the design of it utilizes the style of game consoles made of the Xbox, PS2, Gamecube era!.
This 2600 design was way ahead of it's time compared to consoles of that particular timeframe, and also matches my current plasma tv console with my plasma tv!

I used to have an old heavy sixer and I sold it. Later I decided that I wanted to have one so I got one. When I used to have the sixer I had so much fun. Games also required some imagination unlike today.

This is such a great buy.

I had the original 2600 and eventually lost it after many moves in my 20s. I got the 7800 recently because it plays MOST (all the ones you'd want) 2600 games and of course the 7800 games. The only problem of course was the standard controllers for this system SUCK. I use controllers from the Atari Flashback 2 and have had no problems....those controllers work like the original ones but better. You can often get this system much cheaper than the original 2600s. You can pause most games with this system and if you grew up with the almighty 2600 you know that is a NICE ability to have on this machine. Make sure you buy one with the power supply because the connector is so oddly shaped no other power supply other than a 7800 original will work on this machine. I agree with another reviewer that this system does NOT look it's age, and it is very light. When people come to my house and see it on the coffee table they HAVE to try it out. No other game systems at my house attract so much attention or make players as happy. Play Combat with a friend....I promise you will laugh yourself sick and then you will get so competitive you'll be surprised.

mt family and I really enjoy the system. Reminds me when I was young and my kids were growing up now my grand-kids can enjoy the same thing.
