It's easy, just stick it on the tank and it'll glow the temperature it's currently at. Because it's on the outside of the tank, I'm not sure about how accurate it is. Therefore I didn't rely on having this by itself. I bought another temperature that went inside the tank as well.But so far it seems to read fairly close but I would rely on a real thermometer in the water.
