To say the least, I was really sceptical about buying this stock. I literally hated the stock that came on my model 60 so I really wanted something different. I stumbled upon this stock here on Amazon and was initially drawn by the looks of it. I read some of the reviews and decided to buy the stock. As was advertised, my model 60 fit right in the stock like a glove. It has perfect balance between stock and gun barrel. By that I mean I can rest it on top if my index finger just in front of the trigger guard and it balances perfectly. I am very pleased with the stock and my only regret is that I did not find it sooner.

The item arrived quickly and in good condition.

This universal stock really isn't. It is designed for the Marlin 60 and goes on neatly and quickly on that model (10 minutes). However, like many folks, I have a Marlin 795. The stock is advertised "For proper fit, you may need to remove some material to fit on various models". This is very true, and the amount you remove will depend on your model. The 795 requires a serious modification of this polymer material.

This modification requires a Dremel tool, files, sand paper (fine), and two screwdrivers (flat and Phillips). On any model with a bottom feed magazine a two inch delineated slot must be drilled and Dremelled. However, on the 795 I had to do that, and then extend the trigger assembly base area as the 795 assembly is longer. This was tricky as I had to create a 3/16" inset to hold the assembly. I used the trigger assembly as a pattern and ended up with a good but not perfect fit having only one shot at it.

The instructions that come with the stock do not apply very well to to the 795. In fact on several steps I had to go in reverse order. In my case the front portion of the grip arrived snapped in, and I determined that I needed to remove this before proceeding. Knowing this up front would have saved me some time.

So with the extra necessary removal and shaping of the polymer and the adjustments of the installation instructions, I finished the installation in 2 1/2 hours. Quite a difference from the Model 60. Also I permanently gunked up 2 of my Dremel heads with plastic. If you thoroughly enjoy your time at the work bench you will probably not be too challenged by the requied procedures.

Once complete, it's pretty nice.

Nice little stock for the marlin 60. while the walnut stock was nice, This stock gives a little flare to the model 60 plinkster!! Easy install! I wasnt dissappointed despite the low price. Dont wanna beat up your walnut stock? This is the stock to replace it.

Picked up for a marlin 795. I knew I would have to modify, so I'm not too disappointed in that one. However, the top part that snaps in over the barrel does not fit tight, but it does stay on. The mounting screw in front of the triggerguard was perfect placement. The rear screw was a pain. Its not so much that the hole was off, but the angle of the hole was completely off. Luckily I caught it before I stripped out the hole. I had to dremel out a ton of material in order to allow the screw to be straight up and down and the screw was able to catch the threads. Bad thing is if you have a Marlin 795, you can either buy this or a $100 stock from Boyd's in order to add a pistol grip. Now that its on, it looks good, I just wonder how well the top piece will hang on there.

This stock is an easy fit for the Marlin M60. It looks great with any scope and feels like a completely different gun when shooting. After shooting mine, my best friend had to order one. WELL DONE!

Great quality stock. Fits nice. Only drawback is it required a little clearance work near the area where the takedown screw enters the stock. Screw is a little short and if the area is not taken down a little the screw may not have enough threads to hold the gun. Other than that, no problems.

this really was just as described it only took 10 minutes to install and everything fit perfectly. if you want a cheap after market stock for your marlin 60 that does not feel cheap and is well made this is the one you want. the pistol grip fits my hand like it was made for me. it is very light made the gun a little front heavy without the scope on but the scope evened it out very well. i will say though if you have a 40mm scope like i do you really should have atleast medium rings cause my low set is a little to low to get the front dust cover on. but hey that has nothing to do with the stock thats just my advice with a scope. it still fits perfect but you will want either a smaller scope or higher rings. cant wait to get out to the range this weekend and see how it shoots with this stock.
