Gave up on Tapco Intrafuse for Mini Thirty -- Trying ATI Instead,

This review is from: ATI Ruger Mini14/30 Strikeforce 6 Position Side Folding Gun Stock (Sports)
This ATI stock product looks good, especially when compared with the Tapco Intrafuse kit for the Mini 14 and MiniThirty The Tapco stock is probably a nice product for the Ruger Mini 14, but it doesn't work well on the Ruger Mini Thirty. The opening on the bottom of the Tapco stock at the magazine well area is too narrow to accomodate the required metal magazine reinforcement part from your Mini Thirty and still allow the magazine to be inserted without scraping and then sticking when the magazine release is pushed.
I'm ordering this ATI kit instread -- it recognizes this difference between the Mini 14 and the Mini Thirty and accomodates it. The ATI website has a PDF of the installation instructions for this stock kit and shows you how to easily adjust it. I'll give it a try.

It impresses the girls,

This review is from: ATI Ruger Mini14/30 Strikeforce 6 Position Side Folding Gun Stock (Sports)
My Ruger Mini-14 is about 25 years old. It wasn't called Ranch Rifle in the old days. When I ordered this ATI stock, I wondered whether it would fit. I am happy to report that it does; in fact, it fits like a glove.
Assembly of the ATI stock is simple. I completed the task with all the accessories screwed on, except for the "Drop Tube Adapter", in 1 hour 45 minutes with only a small Philips screwdriver. The Drop Tube Adapter supposedly allows you to use the iron sights in some models, but I don't need it for my Mini. There are two 2-3/16" Picatinny rails on the left and right sides of the fore-end, one of the same size on the bottom and one 7" one on the top. All Picatinny and Weaver devices will fit these rails. You can install up to five sling swivel studs (a sixth one comes installed at the buttstock), which give you the options of carrying the gun with a sling on your shoulder or across your chest. The buttstock is adjustable for four positions and can be folded to the left side by depressing a button on top of the hinge. A buttstock cheek plate is available for those who prefer it. The whole stock, except for a metal floor plate, is made of 1/8" thick plastic. Nevertheless, it feels sturdy. The Mini can be transferred from the original wood stock to the ATI stock easily as follows. (Before you do this, read your owner's manual for safety precautions and the exact disassembly procedure). Generally, this is what you do: (1) Remove the magazine. (2) Cock the Mini by pulling the slide all the way to the back and release. (3) Engage the safety. (4) With a Philips screwdriver, pop the trigger guard latch and remove the trigger assembly (this can be done only with the Mini cocked and the safety on). (4) Lift the barrel/receiver assembly from the old stock and remove the old handguard assembly. (5) Drop the barrel/receiver assembly into the new ATI stock. (6) Screw on the ATI handguard assembly. (7) Replace the trigger assembly and snap on the trigger guard latch. It is now ready for action. It looks so cool. It impresses the girls. It is a great product.
