4.0 out of 5 stars Great card for the price...
The 9600 SE is a good card for middle of the road graphics performance on the more recent graphic intensive games, such as Half Life 2, Doom 3, Call of Duty, and Chronicles of Riddick. If you want to play these games on high level settings then buy the 9800 Pro, but you can get by with medium settings for these games and they look beautiful. I definitely recommend this...

1.0 out of 5 stars The card was not what I expected
As a long time satisfied Amazon customer, I was pleased to find the Radeon 9600SE card on Amazon.com at a very low price. I was not pleased when I received the card. Based on the description on Amazon.com, I expected a new ATI card, but instead I received a Sapphire Radeon 9600SE card in an unsealed box. 5.0 out of 5 stars The Card kicks A$$, March 16, 2005
This review is from: ATI Technologies Radeon 9600 SE 128 MB DRR2 Video Adapter (100-437009) (Personal Computers)
This card was an upgrade to me ATI Raedon 7200 32mb card, which handled well in it's old age. I searched and searched for a better replacement card that would give me as much satisfaction as the 7200. Once i stumbled accress the 9600 and saw the price, there was no doubt I'd found a replacemnt. The card is G-R-E-A-T. I've yet to have any complaints. I do audio/video, web design which requires a high screen resolution along with good refresh rates and this card handles it beautifully. Don't let me get on gaming, i've never seen better and smoother graphics on a card other than the ones you'd pay $200+ for.

4.0 out of 5 stars great card, February 24, 2006

I upgraded from an integrated graphics card because I wanted to improve my pc gaming quality. I chose this one because it was the cheapest improvement that fit with my system. I was hesitant to try it, because I thought a card for under $100 might be a rip-off.

Well, I'm _amazed_ at how much better the same games look! SO much better lighting, faster, more satisfying play -- it was definitely worth it. I actually had not realized how weak my integrated card was. If you bought a pc with integrated graphics, and enjoy gaming, think about kicking in for one of these.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOLY JEBUS, June 7, 2004
This review is from: ATI Technologies Radeon 9600 SE 128 MB DRR2 Video Adapter (100-437009) (Personal Computers)
Man, i was stoked when i got my Radeon 9000 Professional... but holy crud in a biscuit... this card blows it AWAY! i didnt think it was possible! This thing is fantastic, optimized settings on Halo, and it runs great! Tiny, tiny bit of lag in heavily occupied areas with all the light effects lol... but nothing noticeable... Morrowind, man that game runs like a dream now, and Final Fantasy XI, can you say BUMP MAPPING?? WITH NO LAG? AND WEATHER EFFECTS??? JEBUS!
Anyhow, buy this card, it is truly a steal

As a long time satisfied Amazon customer, I was pleased to find the Radeon 9600SE card on Amazon.com at a very low price. I was not pleased when I received the card. Based on the description on Amazon.com, I expected a new ATI card, but instead I received a Sapphire Radeon 9600SE card in an unsealed box. The box contains the card, an s-video to composite adapter and a Sapphire CD which may contain the necessary software. I have no way of knowing if the card has been used or not.

I browsed a number of forums and found both favorable and unfavorable comments on the Sapphire Radeon 9600SE. I've had some experience with ATI cards and drivers and the results have been mixed, but mostly favorable. I would not have chosen a Sapphire card since I've had no experience with them. I'll be installing the card in about 2 weeks and be hoping for good results.

I may yet return the card, but it will cost me the shipping and handling that I paid to receive it plus the shipping to return it. I'm also not sure if I can return it without restocking penalty because the box is unsealed. I've not decided if I'll try to return it yet.

I'm very disappointed with Amazon and Global Computing who fulfilled the order. My view is that one or both misrepresented the product I ordered. What I received may be equivalent to an ATI Radeon 9600SE, but it is not the same and it's up to me to choose which product I wish to receive not the vendor.

As I said at the beginning, I've been a long time satisfied Amazon customer; but because of this experience, I will be more cautious in the future and will give other vendors more consideration.

Finally, as for the single star I gave this product, it was for the entire experience and not for the card, since I don't know yet how it will behave.
