Review

A wholly successful guidebook that transcends its advertised orientation. Inclusive, with practical information not just keyed to sexual orientation. --Kirkus Discoveries, May 2005

From the Publisher

For some reason, there has yet to be a gay travel guide dedicated exclusively to the South’s gay capital.

Although there are other gay travel guides available that are mostly just compilations of international cities, none have focused solely on Atlanta – until now. Finally, "ATLANTAboy: An Insider’s Guide to Gay Atlanta", has come to light.

"ATLANTAboy" was written by two childhood friends –- Jordan McAuley and Matt Burkhalter –- who were both born and raised in Atlanta and have lived in the city for twenty-seven years. But even after all that time, both say they learned a lot of new information about their hometown’s gay scene, including "Insider Tips" they decided to share in the book.

For example, until they wrote it neither of them knew that the AIDS Memorial Quilt – the largest piece of community folk art in the world – was housed and based in Atlanta.

Along with tips like this, they’ve also scattered interesting facts throughout. One of our favorites is about how motion picture projection made its world debut at Piedmont Park in 1895.

My partner & I are relocating to Atlanta. Between our GPS system & ATLANTAboy, we drove around like we lived there!!! Simple explanations, easy read and very informative! If you're headed to Atlanta, or for that matter already live there, you should own this book. It's the newest form of "gay ID"!
