Equipped with exclusive "Smart" technology, the Night Scout Generation 1+ Night Vision binocular from ATN fuses true depth perception with high-quality night vision to deliver one of the most advanced night vision binoculars available. Smart technology consists of a computerized proximity sensor, digital controls, and a long-range infrared illuminator. The Night Scout's proximity sensor automatically turns the night vision scope on when it is brought into the viewing position or off when it is lowered--extending the battery life by up to ten times. The binoculars' high-quality, Generation 1 image intensifier tube amplifies available light for a clear view in dark places while the built-in long-range infrared illuminator allows viewing in total darkness. The digital controls allow you to activate or deactivate all of the features of the Night Scout with an easy push of a button. In addition to its advanced features, the Night Scout is equipped with a multi-coated 90-millimeter glass lenses with 5x magnification for clarity and distance. So far... good enough.

Combining active IR with 1st generation light amplification technology, these glasses aren't dazzlingly powerful, but we do use them to watch deer on the meadow during starry/moonlit nights.

Range? With the light amplification, 60+ yards with not-bad-considering clarity. Best when the moon's at half or better.

Range with the IR... about 15 yards.

Bottom line: a pretty cool toy.
