Best PS2 racing game, maybe BEST PS2 GAME,
By A Customer
This review is from: ATV Offroad Fury PS2 (Video Game)
I honestly believe this game surpasses SSX in terms of sheer fun, replayability, and outstanding graphics and lighting effects. You get so many excellently designed courses (20!) and even a feature to make your own checkpoints for the cross-country courses, you'll probably play this game forever. Madden 2001 is the only PS2 game I play just about every day and I've owned it for three months (and have over $300 worth of PS2 games). In my opinion ATV Offroad Fury is about to supplant Madden 2001 as best PS2 game. I've read some reviews complaining about slowdown in two-player mode and "excruciatingly long loading times". These comments seriously baffle me because the overall game AND courses load quicker than any PS2 game I've played (And yes, that definitely includes Madden and SSX). I also played the two-player game for many hours with a friend and we had no problems or complaints about the speed OR the AI of the computer riders. Yes, that was another strange complaint by some these reviews - Apparently these reviewers don't know how to play racing games because the AI was very competitive but certainly beatable if you practice and learn the courses and how the different ATVs handle. ... Anyway, if you own Madden 2001 and SSX because you were told they were the "games to own if you have a PS2", add ATV Offroad Fury to your collection for the very same reason.

The best racing game ever!!!,

This review is from: ATV Offroad Fury PS2 (Video Game)
This game is a must. If you love four-wheelers or just racing games, add this to your PS2 library. If you have ever played Smugglers Run and love the choice of roaming around, you'll love ATV Off Road Fury. First, the good things: This game has INCREDIBLE GRAPHICS!!!! The graphics are crystal clear with outstanding surroundings and breath-taking backgrounds. This game allows you to do 6 options, Training, Maxxis Nationals, Stadium Supercross, Freestyle Competition, Cross Country Enduro, and Pro Career. You can customize your four-wheeler by fixing its tire friction, front and rear shock, front and rear spring, gear ratio(speed and acceleration), steering, and braking. You can also choose between 20 ATV's, including top brands such as Ravage, Honda, Yamaha, Havoc, Kawasaki, and Polaris. Here's a description of the options. Training mode teaches you the basics of becoming a pro, from riding wheelies to landing jumps. The Maxxis Nationals allows you to practice or race in beautiful outside courses. The Stadium Supercross lets you practice or race incredible inside courses with humongous jumps. Freestyle competition and Cross Country Enduro have enormous jumps and let you roam around or race. If you happen to roam around, look for cacti, trees, buildings, campsites, airports, and more in these wonderful 3D landscapes. Pro Career allows you to race in certain courses in order to unlock new ones. The things I love the most about this game are the graphics, the humongous jumps, all 20 3D courses, and all 16 tricks they allow you to pull off. This game will also keep your appeal. You will never get bored from this game. Another this is the music and sound. They are crystal clear and play some pretty neat songs. Second, the bad thing: This ISN'T A BIG DEAL but could be improved to make the game even better. The camera angle doesn't allow you to switch to an inside the driver view, therefore not allowing you to feel as much of the high altitude and crashes as with other camera angles. The closest view is from behind the driver. Overall this game is an absolute must have for all of the intense racing fans.

Can't stop Playing!!! HELP ME!!!,

This review is from: ATV Offroad Fury PS2 (Video Game)
Can't stop playing this game! 20 full detailed tracks. Best looking ATV's I have ever seen.14 of theme. Tons of gameplay modes.Graphics are better than Madden 2001. The best game for playstation 2. I have both Madden 2001 and ATV Off Road Fury and their both great games but If you ask me ATV Off Road Fury is better. I was at K-mart looking to buy a game and I had a choice of a SSX, Nascar 2001, or ATV Off Road Fury. You bet I picked ATV!!! I have never played a game that was so fun. Racers fly off there ATV's when they get in recks. If you ever played Smugglers run you know how big their tracks 2 tracks are, well ATV has 20+ large tracks to play with including a stunt mode. I would go on talking about thias game has to much to talk about and I couldn't fit it all in with me given only 1,000 words so I will put it in one sentence. THIS IS THE BEST GAME FOR PS2 AND IF YOU DON'T GET IT YOUR MAKING A BIG MISTAKE!!!

Best ATV simulator thus far,
By VOID (Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg [Russia]) - See all my reviews

ATV off-road fury is a very realistic four-wheeler racing game. There are many quad bikes to choose from, all of them based on real models produced by Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, and others. There is also a very fast 1000 cc quad that must be unlocked by beating certain races. The graphics are beautifully rendered, and the ATV's sound real. The AI (the other quads you race against) is very challenging and they can quickly end up RIGHT behind you when you crash. You can do tricks and combinations of tricks while in flight from launching off of the many high jumps, but make sure you land with all wheels touching the ground. One of the best aspects of this game is the freestyle competition, which allows a player to race with no other riders or time limits over vast and expansive areas, like a military base, a desert valley, a railroad/freight yard, and others. The frame rate is very smooth, and the BG music contains songs from Alice In Chains, Anthrax, and more alt rock bands. awesome game, only one minor problem-- no water or mud bogs to drive through...

This game is up to the level of SSX.,

There are several aspects of this game that I think make it one of the greats. Although it still plays like an arcade-style game, it incorporates more simulation-type physics and control than you would expect. These are the touches that I was really amazed by when I rented it.1. Awesome soundtrack. OK,... I was blown away to hear real songs playing in the background by Primus, Duran Duran, Alice in Chains, etc. Great touch. 2. Well-designed tracks. This game has a LOT of tracks. They are designed so that you really have to race several times and learn the tracks in order to win. There is a lot of variation, with arena racing and country racing. 3. Even though you never like to crash, the crashes are great to watch. The physics are very nice here. 4. Strong AI. When you win a race on the harder "career" levels, you BARELY win. It is not one of those games where you are lapping the second place opponent. This, together with the excellent track design, is what earns this game 4 stars. 5... I personally thought the 2-player mode was great fun and gave the whole feel of the game, especially if you use side-by-side split screen instead of top/bottom. Here is what...[I did not like] about this game, earning it 4 stars instead of 5: 1. Not enough variation in the AI... All the opponents drive the same, so tend to be bunched up on the course. So when you...[mess] up, you go from 1st to last place rapidly, and it is very difficult to pass the pack again without crashing. 2. The physics are sometimes too realistic. There are little boxes all over the sides of the track, and if you hit one it is a guaranteed crash. You can't drive on a very large grade without crashing. OK maybe this isn't a true fault but I found it annoying. 3. The "trick" techniques really bite. They are difficult to pull off and not very exciting to watch... 4. No replay mode. After a race it shows you the last lap in replay, which is nice if you pulled your sick maneuver on the last lap, butotherwise...[is useless]. I WILL buy this game after renting for 5 days, which is a rare occurence for me.

Ruff Riders!,

Can you say sic? This game is straight up fun. You can choose from polaris, yamaha, honda, and other atvs. all off the atvs have there own style.you can pick different clothings for the rider. the controling is very simple. You can jump off cliffs and go down secret spots on each level. For the atvs you can pop wheelies ,preload (which is a little lift up for the atv kinda like a boost for air), do insane tricks, stopies and reverse. what i liked the most is the realistic graphic, steering, atvs, backround, music, sound and camara angles. You also race to win the best atv ever! i ride atvs so i know i love this game its a must buy.

So I saw that ATV offroad fury 2 just came out and so I dusted off this old gem. I had forgotten what a great game this was! This is definitely a bargan at $20. Froim what I heard, Sony has taken all the things that make this game good and then threw in a killer soundtrack and fixed all the complaints for Offroad Fury 2! This game is a must for any racing gamer. Go get it!

This game is very addicting when I first got it it was 19.99 so I didn't think that it would be all that good of a game. When I put it in my PS2 I was addicted when I first started playing there are 19 courses, 11 atv's, colors "red, green, yellow, purple, and blue". There are also different styles of clothing to choose from. Then you can also do tricks while in the air, there are about 16 of them. The last thing is that you can edit the tracks to the way you want them.

Great Game,

This was a great game and there were some good and bad things. Some good things were the graphics. They were clear and looked like sky outside your window. Also the Quads were great. There were Polaris's, Yamaha's, Honda's, Kawasaki's, and some made up quads. They all had their strengths and weaknesses, but after you beat the easy career mode, you get the king of all quads, the 1000. It has top speed, top power, top stability, and top handling. After you get this quad it's nearly imposible to lose a race. Also there were a lot of tracks. There were 22 all together and they all were GREAT. I havent gotten bored of them yet! Also I liked the tricks. They were very easy to do and really cool looking. I like the Hartattack the best. There were some bad things though. One was the career mode. It was way too easy. I beat both supercross and nationals in two days. I would want something that really challanges me but it didn't. Also there werent enough freeride tracks. These are fun to just play around in. My brother and I played on freestyle track for over an hour strait. We didn't even get bored. All together I say get this game as soon as possible. It is the best PS2 game I have ever played.

VERY ADDICTIVE GAME!!!,
By
This review is from: ATV Offroad Fury PS2 (Video Game)
My first impression of the graphics on this game was that they weren't as awesome as Snowboard SSX, but as I played it more and more, I became more and more amazed. The physics engine behind this game is ultra-realistic, right down to how your ATV settles on it's shocks after rolling over 8 times in a crash. Playing a CAREER unlocks all the tracks after you win on them - and winning is fun fun fun!!! If you find it too easy and need more of a challenge, just choose an ATV with a smaller engine, or adjust your shocks so they are bouncier!I didn't have a problem with the AI. Sure, they land on your head and knock you off your bike, but it seems like it is set up specifically to challenge you. For instance, you can crash several times in a race and still catch up to the pack, but it seems like once you catch up, they race harder against you to try to keep you from winning. Playing this on a bigscreen TV is the ultimate, the terrains look so real. On all the tracks, you can ditch the race, and go ATVing within a 2 square mile area outside of the track. The tracks are incredible and the music rocks - sounds like you're listening to the radio. This game pulled me in and I have a difficult time shutting it off every time I start playing. I can't remember having this much fun with a game since the early 80's! (oops, now you know how old I am!) The only disappointment, was that after creating your own cross-country checkpoint racing tracks, you can't race against the computer riders on these custom tracks. This game will not disappoint you, because is has all the extra bells and whistles of a game done by programmers who took the extra time to do it right and make it AWESOME. |
