Book Description

December 1, 2007 Authentik
This stylish, insightful book puts travelers on an inside track into the heart of Paris—the world of food. What are the city’s top cookbooks, and who are the top chefs, not only the established names but also those that are up and coming? Who’s offering short cooking courses? The answers are inside, along with the names of stores and markets stocked with superb ingredients, restaurants where you can dine in the kitchen and watch the chefs at work, stores that stand out for kitchen equipment and cookware, gourmet Web sites, and much more.

About the Author

Since her first visit to Paris age four, Canadian-born Rosa Jackson has never tired of exploring the city’s food markets and shops. She moved to France in 1995 to give culinary tours of the city and now designs tailor-made food itineraries. Since 2004 she has divided her time between Paris and Nice, where she teaches cooking in her 17th-century apartment, a few steps from the Cours Saleya market. Besides writing articles for international food magazines, Rosa has published two cookbooks in French, Petites recettes pour grandir and La cuisine des paresseusses.
Longtime Parisian Alain Bouldouyre, artistic director of Senso magazine, is the author of My Paris Sketchbook. There, in Figaro and Le Monde, and in the many travel guides he has illustrated for French publishers, he repeatedly demonstrates his finely honed ability to capture the spirit of place in line and color.
