Choosing the Right AVF Mount For You
Flat panel TVs are ideally suited to be wall mounted. Wall mounting your TV can create extra space and give a stylish uncluttered look to your room. The slim profile of flat-panel TVs means that they can be discreetly placed flat against a wall or they can be easily repositioned when mounted on a multi-position mount.
VESA Size
A further consideration when choosing a flat panel TV wall mount is whether your TV is VESA compatible, and if so, which VESA standard it is. VESA standards are set distances between threaded screw holes on the back of flat-panel TVs and monitors. All AVF flat panel mounts are VESA compliant and specify the maximum VESA standard they will fit. Many products also fit non-VESA-compliant monitors and TVs.
TV Size
The size of mount to choose is dependent on the screen size of your TV. AVF has flat panel mounts in four categories: Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. Overlap exists between size categories as some mounts are compatible with a wide range of screen sizes.
TV Weight
Another important consideration is the weight of your TV. AVF mounts are subject to rigorous weight testing; however, you should not exceed the weight limit indicated on products. Rigorous internal quality procedures at the design and manufacture stages are also supplemented by independent third party testing leading to quality and safety accreditations. AVF products are UL listed after being tested to hold four times the weight recommended for each product.
TV Room Position
The distance between you and your TV and the height you place your TV is usually based on personal preference. If you sit too close, lower-quality signals may appear pixelated, and if you sit too far away you may not see the high quality detail in HD or DVD images. Where you intend to place your TV will also have a direct influence on the type of wall mount best suited to your needs.
Flat to wall: If your aim is to achieve a discreet appearance, a flat to wall mount may be ideal for your room. Flat to wall mounts are designed with a slim profile to enable you to position your TV flush to the wall.
Tilt: Wall mounts with a tilt function enable you to place your TV in a higher position as they provide the opportunity to tilt your screen downwards for optimal viewing. Tilting capabilities can also help remedy situations where light is glaring off your screen.
Multi-position: Multi-position mounts are ideal for positioning your TV into a corner or where you would like a wide range of viewing angles, giving you the ability to view your TV from multiple rooms, such as the living room and kitchen, for example. They are the most flexible mounts available and allow you to fold out your TV on one or more arms and multiple pivot points to give a maximum range of viewing angles. Multi-position mounts also usually have tilting capabilities and can be neatly folded back against the wall.
Wall Type
It is important to consider the type of wall you are mounting your TV on. It is highly recommended to use a stud-finder to find wooden studs and to ensure there are no hidden pipes or wires behind where you intend to drill. Do not mount onto drywall, plasterboard or paneled walls unless all wall plate screws are fixed into a wooden stud behind the drywall, plasterboard, or paneled walls. Use suitable wall plugs and screws when mounting onto a solid concrete wall. It is your responsibility to ensure the wall structure and fixings are capable of supporting the screen and mount in a normal working environment. Check the strength of the installation before installing and if you have any doubts regarding installation please consult a qualified contractor.
Cable Management
Cable management is something you may wish to consider when wall mounting your TV in order to achieve a neat, uncluttered finish. There are different ways of managing your cables and you may need to consider which approach you will take before installing your mount onto the wall.
- Surface coverings: The easiest cable management solution is to cover your wires with cable covers. These are coverings which stick to your wall over your cables. Usually made out of plastic, they are available in varying thicknesses and are typically paintable.
- Concealing in hollow walls: If you are mounting your TV on a stud or partition wall you may choose to run your cables in the hollow space between studs. You can so this by drilling a hole close to where the wall plate of your mount will be and threading your cables through the hollow space to emerge lower down your wall. Depending on the size of the hollow gap however you may have difficulty in threading thicker cables or end connectors. Make sure you check for pipes and wires before drilling, and ensure the screws of the wall plate of your mount are fixed into a wooden stud.
- Concealing in solid walls: If you are mounting your TV on a solid wall you can conceal your cables by cutting or chiseling out a channel within your wall in which to run your cables. Simply plaster over the channel and repaint to achieve a smooth finish.

Great Function & Form,

This was delivered in one day. Good Condition. Picture instructions easy to follow.
Wasn't a wood stud where it needed to be installed. I tried using supplied drywall anchors and screws. The plastic anchors messed up using an electric drill and screws were to large. I had the common problem of creating a rounded out hole to big for the anchors.(stuff happens!) So,I checked my surplus hardware stash and found two metal drywall anchors with the spring loaded wing-nuts that lockup against the inside of the drywall. These are the best for any weight bearing install. I didn't rate the shelf system 5 stars because of the supplied anchors & screws. The shelf system was great and goodlooking. A very sturdy shelf holds the cable box and above on the next shelf is my blu-ray player. Adjusting the shelves was easy. I really liked being able to arrange all cables neatly through cableways on each side of the base and behind the shelf holders. This made a nice clean setup. Very pleased with the final results. I experienced no instability in any of the shelves as I read in some review. This my be because of the use of the supplied anchoring hardware. Before install, go to the hardware store and get better hardware for the drywall. In my opinion, the metal wing-nut toggle bolt type are the best for load bearing shelving.

I for one am all about aesthetic appeal when it comes to our television setup in each of our rooms in our homes. I am a wire hider, I would rather climb up in a 130F attic and hide wires than see them any day. We purchased this product for my son's setup in his room, we mounted it right next to his 47" TV and he keeps his Playstation and XBox on each shelf, the wires are nearly completely hidden as they're so close to the TV that they simply are running directly behind and plugged in (excess is wound up and zip tied behind the TV). We chose to mount the shelf to the side of the Television because he had a shelf below with his stereo, etc, and the aesthetic appearance worked better off to the side. It would look amazing with one set on each side, but he has no need for two sets. The product was very easily assembled, and the glass and finish gives it a very contemporary look. I would recommend this product all day long.Hope that helps you with your purchasing decision. Thanks for reading!

I was looking for a cheap wall shelf unit, but I wish I would've shopped more. This unit is very visually pleasing; however, lacks stability. The drywall anchors that come with it don't work very well. I eventually made them work, but recommend getting other anchors if you have the choice. I got the anchors tight to the wall, but the shelves will sway side to side way more than I expect if bumped. The shelf looks very nice if you put it up away from contact, but I fear things may fall off them as wobbly as they are.
