4.0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied!
This device is great! All I wanted was the ability to watch a TV program on a small window on my notebook screen. I got that and a lot more. Resolution can go from 320 to full screen. Installation was a breeze, no touble at all with that. I have windows xp Professional SP2, no Media Center. All the extra features like 16 channel preview, time shifting, picture...

1.0 out of 5 stars Big mistake
I bought the card to see tv while traveling. Big mistake. Is is impossible to get a good signal without a very good antenna. I tried it at Tennessee, New York and overseas and it didn't work in an acceptable way. Even from cable I got no decent image. The software runs from startup. It assumes that you ALWAYS use the card and always loads the drivers, slows the notebook a...

This device is great! All I wanted was the ability to watch a TV program on a small window on my notebook screen. I got that and a lot more. Resolution can go from 320 to full screen. Installation was a breeze, no touble at all with that. I have windows xp Professional SP2, no Media Center. All the extra features like 16 channel preview, time shifting, picture controls, still image capture, and storing favorite channels as groups are all icing on the cake.

I use a Logitech media mouse which does conflict with the volume control of the Avertv volume. Disabling (End Process in Task Manager) the Logitech driver (KEM.exe) or exiting the Logitech mouse software solves this problem and I can still use the Logitech mouse, but not with all its features. Strangely though, it isn't always necessary to do this.

My one disappointment is that the Avertv doesn't remember your screen resolution settings and placement position on your screen when you shut it down. Every time you start it up you have to reset those items. Video quality is very good with a STRONG signal even with the little antenna supplied. Without a strong signal the supplied antenna doesn't do to well, which is to be expected. When hooked up to my home roof antenna the video equals my TV. I don't have cable but I would think that input signal would be outstanding.

I'm a happy camper.
