Can't Live Without It,
By Alan W. Hinden "The Web King - www.WebKing.com" (Las Vegas, Nevada) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

Just Renewed the annual membership for 3 More Years! It's that good.
Much better than the free version which has too many popup ads. Plus is ad-free & I can display the weather where my relatives live, all around the country.

Major Disappointment,
This review is from: WeatherBug Plus (CD-ROM)
Our new WeatherBug Plus is apparently permanently in ad-supported mode. A local television station is advertised in the upper right-hand corner of the program. A first email to customer support garnered a response complete with a place from which to redownload the program, which did nothing to solve the program, nor did I need this information since I have the program on CD anyway.
One week later I am still waiting to hear a response to my second email; the ad is still there. In sum, it is NOT ad-free insofar as I can tell, and customer support has turned out to be useless. Perhaps all Plus-versions have some advertising despite their claims. Beats me! So if you don't mind the ads, buy it, but ours is going back to the store.

One Outstanding Program!,

This program is much better than one of those expensive personal weather stations you can buy for your house. In addition to temperature, humidity, wind, and barometer, you also get high and low temperatures for the day, rate of rain fall, total rain for the day and month. But what I like even better than all of these is the live dopler radar. I frequently use it in "animation" mode. That way I can see approaching storm fronts, watch the storm's progress through our area, and watch it finally exit. This is one awsome program!

I've used Weatherbug for some years now... it is a wonderful program. It has a very clean and professional looking interface, and is very easy to work with (use). By simply putting in your zip code, you can have alerts for all types of weather situations and even alerts from the Homeland Security and your local police dept. It provides alerts for quite a few things as I mentioned, and I'd highly recommend this wonderful program to anybody!

If you travel a lot, like I do, you NEED WeatherBug Pro. The pro version features the ability to maintain a list of other locations which you can monitor at a glance. No ads or pop ups, just great live info. Because of their school weather station learning programs, they have data being collected from almost everywhere. Odds are good that there's a school in your neighborhood with their weather station. No more far away forecasts, but good solid data right from where you need it.
I cover a huge territory, often traveling by automobile. In the winter months, it's important to know what to expect at my various destinations. A bonus: My family enjoys being able to see what the weather is like where I've traveling to. It's a quick update via the internet, so even if you're on "dial up", the data downloads fast and you're on your way. I've used the program for years and HIGHLY recommend it. (And I'm pretty picky about my software). Brett Calder

I have used WeatherBug for several years now. As soon as I had the money I upgraded to the Plus version and have never regretted it. The various settings for alerts, locations, views and what would term as just fun settings are far better than any weather tracking program I have used.

Best of its kind,

Over the years I've tried/used many system-tray weather programs. WeatherBug is by far the best of the bunch. Among other things, it's the first to give me truly localized information.
The Phoenix metropolitan area is the 5th largest in the country and the weather in Chandler is rarely the same as in Scottsdale where I am. For a true "weather fan" like me, this is it!

We live rurally, and we can't get the "local" stations that report our weather. Radio reception is also sketchy. So we feel WeatherBug is really essential, especially for tracking the super thunderstorms, tornados, and hurricanes that like to breeze through our area. We highly recommend it!

Good, but version 5 was better,

WeatherBug Plus is a decent product for what they charge. It's a quick and easy way to get basic local weather information.
I do think that version 5 of the software was better than the current version (6). Annoyances: * MyLocations does not provide full detail on your selected sites. You must make one of those locations your Home location to get rainfall, wind gust, heat index/wind chill and other information. * The program's Weather Window does not remember your selected tab once the application has been minimized. It loves to default to 'Storm Central' whenever there is, well, a storm. Problem is that said storm has never been anywhere near me and is of no consequence to me. * The application really likes to download and redraw your selected Skin when restoring from minimization. This could be rather time consuming for those still on dialup. * There are still occasional ads, specifically on pop-up windows like WeatherBug Weekend. Their 'LOVE WeatherBug Plus?' button on the lefthand side of the main window is what brought me here to write this review in the first place. * Regardless of past press releases touting a partnership with the National Weather Service, WeatherBug will not display rainfall data for sites maintained by the NWS. |
