Copland's Third Symphony is a representative sample of this composers ideas on symphonic coposition. The composition is unique in content, forms, tonalities, orchestration etc making it unmistakably Copland. One can feel the americanism of the work - its inherent patriotic mood that was high at the time it was composed. Truely one of the greater American musical achievements of the 20th cent. or of any century!
