It is always great to see Irene Cara, in a movie that really proves she is not just a great singer but an all arounnd performer. This is lovestory movie that makes you cry and laugh at the same time, filled with drama and passion the actors absorb the script well.

I remember seeing this in my younger days wishing that I could see it over and over. Now I have. Irene Cara was a delight as was Kevin Hooks. Very enjoyable when love seems against all odds.

At the time of this writing AARON LOVES ANGELA is out-of-print... This is awful, because there are so many incredible reasons to watch this film... besides the appearence of a very young Irene Cara (who I always found to be a hottie), and a cameo club appearence and performance of Jose Feleciano (somewhat reminiscent of Curtis Mayfield's appearence in SUPERFLY) - - and this was the era when Feleciano was so funky he was even rocking Soul Train.

As for the story - - its an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet that takes places in NYC - - a love tale between a young black teenageer and a Puerto Rican girl who are caught in between the intolerance of the world around them.

The look of the film has that gritty yet colorful '70s blaxploitation vibe - - yet the story is touching, exciting and engaging... All in all, the inavailability of both this and 180 Blocks from Tiffany's is discraceful ! ! !

It's odd how movie makers were more daring in the 70s then in these 'enlightened' times. I think this may have been one of the few times in my life a black Puerto Rican was depicted on screen. Nowadays they'd probably call Angela biracial or some such nonsense. Anywho, the scenes in the movie were realistic of the 70s NYC urban environment. Good acting all around and Irene Cara in her prime is pure eye candy.

It's a good movie of a romantic teen story with a very young Irene Cara in his firsts apparences in a true New York of 70s, a jump in these streets at that time. But I think I must add a star for the Soundtrack write and played by the fantastic Jose Feliciano (which also appears on the movie), take from his 1976 album "Angela" never released on cd, is real great hear these versions of songs and instrumentals

Irene Cara and Kevin Hook was nicely paired for this story of young love. Performs are good and really enjoyed Jose Feliciano's music.

Irene Cara looked absolutely stunning in this movie.Her beautiful face,engaging smile and enchanting personality makes this movie shine.Of course the story line was interesting.Its obvious its an older movie because political correctness is no where to be seen in it.The dialogue is honest and doesnt hold back.And the soundtrack is vastly under rated.I bought the video because now I can see it anytime. They certainly don't make movies like this anymore!!!

I'd heard of this movie over the years. Never got a chance to see it before, but always wanted to. I was quite pleased. The actors did very well with their dialog, the writing was to the point. Nothing in this movie was wasted. I must say, though, the cover of this dvd has always confused me. The title characters are the ones in the BACKGROUND...not the two actors in the front!

I like this movie! Especially Irene Cara! I Love her! She is the best! Good actress as well as a singer! This was her first movie before sparkle. I like the movie, the ending was ok, but could have done better! This is a perfect gift for a friend of mine! She is going to love this! This is a hard to find movie! You could never get this in stores! You got to get this one here at amazon! Thanks amazon once again!
