5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Cost/Benefit ratio!
Simply put, is the best full featured phone you can get at this price range (which is miles south of the likes of the Toshiba's and Avaya's of life). Unbelievable list of features and incredibly easy of use. Sound quality is second to none, the customization settings are very good and the construction is incredibly sturdy to be able to last the long life I would expect...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good if you need a quality speaker phone
The speakerphone on this phone is inferior to what I needed, very low volumn and not so clear.

Everything else looks fine.

Unbelievable list of features and incredibly easy of use. Sound quality is second to none, the customization settings are very good and the construction is incredibly sturdy to be able to last the long life I would expect for office phone chores! My only complaint is the screen back light which could be more bright or at least be adjustable. Rather than that, is a great phone that will outdo and outlast any competitor in the same or even in higher price ranges.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far a solid performer in the home office, September 19, 2007
By
I bought this phone after using and liking the Meridian phones in my work office. Sound quality is hard to review since I am right next door to a AM radio station and have every phone in the house on a RF filter, but it is acceptable on the handset and speakerphone. Does not seem as sturdy as the Meridian phone, but it is not cheap feeling either. I miss the dedicated headset button that is on the Meridian. The Aastra has one key for both the speakerphone and headset. You program the button for the first push to be the speaker or headset. The large display is great and setting up entries in the directory is simple. My one grip is that you need a external amplifier to drive a headset even though this is advertised as headset compatable. Even the Plantronics web site says that this phone doesn't need a amplifier, but trust me it does. This would have been a show stopper for me for purchasing, since I wanted to avoid more junk on my desktop. The phone has a power failure mode, so the phone will work with the AC power off, just the display and directory keys will not work

Overall a good solid performer. The large caller ID display is a boon for my productivity as I can easily screen calls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Telephone, January 9, 2007
I used this phone in the lobby of a residential apartment building to replace the building's intercom. The directory feature of the phone is great. It is very easy for the doormen to access the phone listings and quickly dial a resident. I am very pleased with all the functions of the phone. It works as good as advertised!

For many years, I have owned an Aastra 390 Analog Screenphone and decided to upgrade to the 480e. I am very satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend this phone.Aastra 480e Single Line Analog Screenphone Charcoal

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, cheap, but NOT as good as the old 350 model, February 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aastra 480e Single Line Analog Screenphone Charcoal (Electronics)
The Aastra 480e is good, reasonably priced, but NOT as good as the old 350 model in terms of sturdiness and features.

I like the Nortel/Aastra phones so when my Nortel 350's screen when out, I bought this 480e model.

Overall, the phone is very handy and gives you more bells and whistles than the older model. You get a 200 number directory and a 100 number caller's list; a big improvement over the 50 number directory and the 25 number caller's list. You can still copy numbers from the caller's list and edit them as needed. I also like that a headphone jack is included.

What I DON'T LIKE:

1) Although the REDIAL list is now 10 entries (up from 5), you can't delete individual entries from it which means you have multiple entries from the same caller. Hitting "delete" clears out the whole list!

2) The speakerphone is crummy. It has a static crackle.

3) The LCD screen is much dimmer than the 350.

I paid $350.00 through the phone company for the 350 and only $113.99 for the 480e.

3.0 out of 5 stars Display unreliable!, May 29, 2007
I love the display feature of this phone, but unfortunately this is the feature that has given out on this phone two times in five years. I am about to either replace our current model (a second replacement for same problem) or go to a different model. Worth the money if I didn't have to pay it THREE times... if it weren't $129 a pop the unreliability would be easier to overlook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aastar 480e speakerphone, May 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aastra 480e Single Line Analog Screenphone Charcoal (Electronics)
This is an excellent product, and it does everything as advertised. HOWEVER -- it has what is, in my opinion, a somewhat serious design flaw. It's special features, instead of being powered by the phone line itself, are powered by house current, and there is no place for backup batteries. The phone needs to be plugged in, via its AC converter, to a wall socket, and if your house current goes out, you still have basic phone service, but you lose the phone's other features. That said -- it's so good (for my purposes) I bought a second one a few months after the first!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy this phone, February 20, 2011
This review is from: Aastra 480e Single Line Analog Screenphone Charcoal (Electronics)
2/20/2011 -- The first 480e phone set that was delivered to me broke the morning after I had plugged it in. While I could speak and listen via the phone's speakerphone, once I lifted the handset to talk there was nothing -- completely dead. When I tried to initiate a call using the handset, same thing -- no dial tone, no nothing. I RMA'd it and received a replacement, and the following day that phone too broke. The 480e is a piece of junk. Aastra wouldn't even pick up the phone when I called, and refused to answer my emails. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
