Editorial Reviews

First live 2CD/DVD from former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach. The DVD includes never-before-seen footage from 2012s GrasPop Festival in Belgium, the full never-before-seen Hellfest set from France, and the fully-remixed and remastered Live at Nokia show from Los Angeles (originally broadcast on AXS TV). Includes all Skid Row hits and the best songs from Sebastians solo career! Also available in DVD edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware April 8, 2013
Format:Audio CD
As a huge fan of both his music in Skid Row and his solo albums, I bought this DVD in good faith, knowing what a kick-ass live vocalist Bach is with those powerhouse vocal chords!

On this DVD you will find three different festival shows, so you won't be getting a full set, but each show has eight or nine tracks, so potentially this could've been very good value for money. Unfortunately, the setlists on all three shows are almost identical rendering the whole idea rather pointless. Instead of offering up a variety of tracks throughout the three shows, you're left with repeated performances of the same songs.

However, as one of the greatest live rock vocalists of recent times, I would've gladly overlooked this minor gripe were it not for the fact that the shows themselves are a major let down. Each show has been overdubbed by Bach in the studio (Bach himself has openly admitted this). I know a lot of artists do this, but I'm not talking about the usual tidying up and fixing of the odd bum note. He has re-recorded the entire vocals so they sound identical to their studio counterparts. There are some hilariously cringeful parts on the DVD where Bach is heard belting out notes and yet he isn't even singing or holding the mic to his mouth.

This really is one of the worst live DVDs I've ever seen. I have no problem with an artist fixing minor glitches in the studio - as Bach himself has said, they all do it. But to re-record the entire setlist of a concert DVD and try and pass it off as a legitimate live experience is just plain wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Abachalypse Now May 11, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Unlike most live DVDs that focus on just one concert, Abachalypse Now from SEBASTIAN BACH includes three completely different live shows, all filmed in the summer of 2012. First up is Hellfest France - June 16th. A highly energized Baz and his band, consisting of guitarists Nick Sterling and Johnny Chromatic, bassist Jason Christopher, and drummer Bobby Jarzombek, take the stage on a beautiful, sunny afternoon in front of a massive field full of people. Somewhat surprisingly, Sebastian actually halts `Big Guns' mid-way through and admonishes the crowd for not jumping up and down; the same routine is employed in `American Metalhead', suitably renamed `Francais Metalhead'. But when an absolutely killer rendition of `Monkey Business' is aired, everyone in attendance is 110% into the song.

Concert number two is Graspop Belgium - June 24th. Another outdoor European festival, but this time Mother Nature wasn't so co-operative. Forced to play during a torrential rainstorm in front of an absolutely soaked audience - and at an hour much earlier than he would have liked - Sebastian actually orders a coffee on stage before kicking into `Here I Am'. Unfortunately there are glitches in the audio because of the weather; despite standing in puddles, the band carried on.

The third segment, Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA - August 2nd, is perhaps the most interesting. Initially filmed for AXS TV, Sebastian and his group were required to sign a release agreeing to be part of the broadcast; however guitarist Nick Sterling refused. Always one to rise above adversity, Sebastian enlisted the help of some friends, resulting in a very unique performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for fans April 2, 2013
By sjttrp
Format:Audio CD
At this point in the game, there should be no surprises with a Sebastian Bach live release. You get exactly what is advertised w/ this release. Sure the vocals sound a little too good to be true, but Bach has been up front about retooling the vocals in the studio in the tradition of some great live albums like Priest's "Unleashed in the East". You get a lot of bang for your buck w/ this one. Three shows on the DVD and two shows on the CDs. Not too shabby for $17. More artists need to release live packages like this for their fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved Skid Row llive April 28, 2013
By Dave
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
To have 3 different shows of Bach and all the "Mother Truckers" supporting him at the shows is great. He even brings out special guest guitarists at the L.A. show like Jinxx from Black Veil Brides. Which I have all of BVB cd's now Thanx Sab for proving metal still kicks ass

5.0 out of 5 stars If you loved the REAL Skid Row you'll really love this January 28, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Baz is at his best! the band is way better than the members of what was Skid Row, he can still rock the high screams...the France concert has a much better sound quality than the L.A. show and aside from a couple of different songs the setlists and segueways are pretty much the same, except in L.A. it's all in English of course....this a great compilation for an all-time great frontman and singer...I got this as soon as it came out and it hasn't left my car stereo since....Love it!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars I have bootlegs that sound better April 6, 2013
Format:Audio CD
This has to be the worst live album I've ever bought. Very poor sound quality almost like a bad bootleg and in a day and age where one can revamp the sound of a live album, this is not acceptable. Only giving 2 stars for the song selection which is almost exactly the same on both CD's. We should've gotten 1 CD containing a 13 song combination from all 3 shows on the DVD. Save your money on this and get something else.

It sounds like he really put some speed in the guitars and it sounds like a true live cd! Wish he would do a Skid Row reunion though.
