This review is from: Valdora (Toy)
Valdora is a great new game for our family. It is a challenge to learn the game initially because of its complexity. We consider it a cross between Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride. We learned to play from the instructions, which can be tricky. I like the fact that moves don't require throwing dice. After playing a few times and understanding the game, the pace of the game goes pretty quickly. Valdora has some of strategy, but not much conflict. Each player works to get tools and complete commissions which earn points. Completing commissions results in controlling workshops. The game doesn't involve taking money or goods from other players (like Monopoly) so each player builds their score somewhat independently. Conflict can occur when two players are racing to controll a particular workshop. This is a game our whole family is enjoying. We have fans of Settlers and fans of Ticket to Ride, but not everyone likes those games. This one satisfies all of our family of five. |
