3.0 out of 5 stars Yazz's cover of this song is destroyed by remixes :(, May 19, 1999

This review is from: Abandon Me (Audio CD)
Yazz (Yasamin Summers) did a very well done cover of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" originally done by Rose Royce. It is from the Yazz album "The Natural Life" but unfortunately, this CD single does not contain the original version from the album/CD which contains ALL the vocals. Instead of giving us some nice, full vocal remixes, it allows some remixers to run wild, alter her pitch and vocal speed, and utterly wreak havoc to this great song and artist. The saving grace for this single is the Urban Shakedown Mix, which really gets you moving and gives us the full flavor of the dance mixes and songs that Yazz has done in the past. Again, there are no full vocals, but it is the only track on the CD worth having. The title of the song is "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" and not "Abandon Me." That error alone is enough to make one guess the amount of planning that went into this single. I wish her company had a clue to what they are doing with her, because she is an excellent artist, and the album this single was from "The Natural Life" is five star all the way...but try to find it, you would have an easier time having lunch with Madonna. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great re-do of a classic, December 6, 2003
By
This review is from: Abandon Me (Audio CD)
The title is misleading, but this song actually is a cover version of "Love don't live here anymore" with a beautiful House mix! It's almost like a brandnew song - so that's probably why they changed the title. I really like it. Finally someone finds new ways of re-doing a song
