More About the Author

When I was in the 7th grade I took one of those career aptitude tests - you know, the ones where you answer a bunch of questions and the results indicate what profession you'd best be suited for? Yeah, well my test results indicated I was best suited for a career as a government spy.

A SPY!

I think I had the coolest results in the entire class. :)

Needless to say, I did not follow that particular career path - or maybe I just took the more indirect route. In my thirties a very good friend of mine who is now one of the world's most renowned psychic mediums suggested I stop ignoring my talents and dive right into the professional world of a psychic intuitive. On a lark, I did. And the results were pretty mind-blowing. Within just a few short weeks even I couldn't deny it - so much of what I predicted for total strangers was coming true and I really had to accept the "gift" so to speak.

Over the years I've built a really fabulous clientele and all those experiences have helped me create the Psychic Eye Mysteries, the Ghost Hunter Mysteries, and - for children - Oracles of Delphi Keep. And along that way I discovered my true love - writing.

Writing is one of those passions that gets me out of bed in the morning and invigorates my day. I love spinning a good yarn, and when I feel I actually get it right - wow! There is no better feeling.

In fact, the other day I was kicking back after a looooong day of writing, which ended in the completion of a manuscript and I remember just marveling in the fact that I actually get paid to daydream! I can't think of a more satisfying way to spend a life. And let's face it - it's a whole lot safer than working some covert operation. Although - I'm pretty sure the benefits might be better at the CIA. Still, I'll stick to my daydreams...at least for now... :)

5.0 out of 5 stars I predict a successful series for Ms. Laurie! January 16, 2005
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are many preconceptions of psychics and what they do and they are a little 'off the wall' - I was attracted to Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye because it combines many elements of excitement and gives a practical view of what a psychic is and what a psychic feels in the consequences of what they do.

Abby Cooper has integrity, and does what she can for her clients and friends, and stumbles into a murder mystery and a man (hunk) Dutch, a cop who can help unravel the clues.

As a debut novel, Ms. Laurie is smooth, entertaining and makes you look forward to her next 'reading' - (next novel) -

If you are interested in psychics, the paranormal, as well as a great mystery, pick up this book - you will enjoy it and want to browse Ms. Laurie's website -

You will enjoy all of the above and I predict you will instantly be a fan -

Keep 'em coming, Victoria!

5.0 out of 5 stars great paranormal March 29, 2005
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Abby Cooper is a psychic intuitive. But she can't believe that her blind date ends up being the lead investigator in the death of one her clients...and she's pointed the arrow straight back to herself by confiding some of her vision during their date! Kicking herself, she now has the police watching her as a possible murderer and the real murderer coming to find out what she knows! I loved this book - I can't wait for her next one coming in July. It was funny and engaging, and I couldn't put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done January 16, 2007
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
After years of struggling to accept her psychic ability, Abby Cooper decides to put her gift to use and starts a business as a psychic intuitive. Her business is doing very well and she is booked months in advance. Abby sees so many clients she can't remember them all and even though she got an "icky" feeling while doing a reading for Allison Pierce, she soon forgets about her. But Allison is murdered and the police, skeptical about Abby's psychic powers, think Abby had something to do with the murder since she knows a lot about it. Abby, needing to clear her name, beings to investigate Allison's life and death. Hunky police detective Dutch Rivers is soon convinced of her innocence but is unhappy that Abby is investigating the case because he realizes the real killer is dangerous. Abby soon realizes she should have listened to Dutch as she faces very real danger.

"Abby Cooper: Psychic Eye" is a wonderful debut novel in what promises to be a fun cozy mystery series. Author Victoria Laurie does a good job of explaining how Abby's psychic powers came to be and how the psychic mind works. There's a nice sense of humor throughout the book, especially when Abby does her readings. Abby is a fully developed character, with Laurie giving little tidbits about Abby's relationship with her parents, plus good insight into her relationship with her sister, Cat, who is another great character. Abby's relationship with Dutch is also well done and realistic as she struggles to accept that he is a cop who doesn't want her involved in the case and he struggles to accept her psychic abilities. As for the mystery itself, while the murder and motive are all too real and tragic, armchair sleuths may be disappointed that they don't really have a chance to figure out who the murderer is. Still, it is the characters that make this book so enjoyable and worth reading.

I really enjoyed reading "Abby Cooper: Psychic Eye" and have already picked up the next book in the series. Well done.
