Works as it should but larger blade advertised as for curly fries is way too small. Makes curly potatoe chips. Should be small noodles and slightly larger noodles. I still need to buy a different unit for curly fries when I had selected this one for the range of sizes it seemed to offer. The center hub and teeth are long enough so that we rarely have to trim the ends flat which is good for less waste.

I waffled back and forth between this one and the Palderno one for a few days. With taxes on the other one, there was a $15 price difference. Since I figured this is something that I will only be using occasionally, I decided to just go the cheaper route and see. So far I have been very happy! I have done the zucchini noodles a few times and sweet potato curly fries once. It works just fine for both. It is a little flimsy feeling, but I still think it will last for quite a while. It is much easier to work and maneuver than I had been expecting, even my 3,5 and 7 year olds can turn the handle with no problem. :) I probably would have given it 5 stars but for the issue that one of the suction cups on the front not working from the start. It still holds in place fine though. I may regret not sending it back later, but for $25 I figured it wasn't worth the hassle.

Very flimsy, doesn't work very well. And leaves a lot of un-useable veggies behind. Not very easy to use, awkward to say the best.

This is a unique device that you might love, or it might turn to closet clutter after a while.

If you have a weakness for shaved and shredded foods and you don't mind the storage space and clean-up effort, you might really like it.

If you already have a Cuisinart, you might see less need for this, even though it can make more decorative forms than the Cuisinart.

PROs:

- Fun and different
- It works; blades are very sharp
- Thoughtfully designed. Suction cups anchor the unit well, for example.
- Reduces cooking time
- Uses no electricity
- Plastic parts seem to be of good quality

CONs:

- Storage space
- Cleanup effort
- Juice runs down onto countertop
- Shave thickness (1/8") is not adjustable
- Novelty might wear off.

Prices are bouncy. Low tide is $20, maybe less. There's an "Online Price Alert" that will email you whenever this or any amazon product dips below your target price. Google it. Or try camelcamelcamel, which also shows price history.

The same item is sold under the New and Essential (ClearMax), Epica, and Paderno brands. Happy amazon shopping!
