5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Melodies, August 9, 2000
This review is from: Abendlied - works for Oboe and Piano - Schumann: 3 Romances, Op. 94 / Barber: Canzonetta / Mozart: Sonata in B-flat Major KV 454 (Audio CD)
The term "canzonetta" in music means "litte song" or "short song". It means the music must be orchestrated in a song-like movement, a serenade. This music is usually very brilliant and lyrical. The selections of Mozart and Schumann are exceptional. The best, in my personal opinion, is Mozart's. Mozart had a talent to compose beautiful melodies and delightful serenades. What makes his serenades so good is the soft use of winds. He has many more famous serenades, such as the Eine Kleine in G and the Partitas. However, all of his canzonettas are remarkable. Enjoy this great collection of music.
