Frederick Bull (Author)

Book Description

November 2001
The Scots have been adventurers for centuries, traveling to all corners of the world and taking the name of their home with them. Scottish place names can be found on every continent, and ‘Aberdeen’ appears from the Deep South of America to the prairies of Canada; from the tropical islands of the Caribbean to the South America and Africa; from the Bay of Bengal and ancient China to a lush valley in Australia.

From the original Aberdeen in north-east Scotland, journey with Frederick Bull as he travels an extraordinary 96,000miles to visit no less than 30 Aberdeens. The people he meets and the stories he brings back are amazing and they are all in this book.

About the Author

Frederick Bull was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1936. He graduated from Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, as a landscape painter.

His art has been exhibited at numerous galleries and his work is held in public and private collections both in the UK and abroad.

Frederick Bull was Principal Lecturer in Visual Art, Craigie College of Education and then National Development Officer (Scotland) in Art & Design before he retired in 1992.

He returned to roots in Aberdeen Shire in 1999 to renew his life-long love affair with the north-east and its landscape. He enjoys hill-walking and golf when time allows.

Fred is passionate about the educational potential in linking schools around the Aberdeens, and the formation of a 'Global Family'.

He says he has been 'enriched by the experience' of researching Aberdeens Around the World and 'humbled at the courage of previous generations who left the north-east to find new lives in distant corners of the world'.
