Here we have one of the premier regimental pipe bands of the Canadian army reserve in an interesting program of religious music. Its improtant to note that chapel music plays a vital part in regimental life even to this day. The music chosen here by the pipes, drums and band of the 48th Highlanders reflect that importance. There is an interesting mix of hymns, regimental tunes and excellent pipe medleys all skillfully arranged here. For its music subject and content this CD is unlike most military and pipe recordings out there. North American pipe music lovers should deffinitely get to know the 48th Highlanders better. This regimental pipe band is one of the oldest and best in the Canadian armed services and has always maintained an excellent pipe band. The regimental band, while smaller and less well known, adds that wonderful dimension of combined music which can enahance any pipe band concert. Those wanting a truly different, but interesting CD of regimental music and hymns can't go wrong here. Check amazon.ca for other great 48th CDs.
