This review is from: Abiding in Christ (Paperback)
I have read many of Andrew Murray's books and always experience growth with each one. This book, Abiding in Christ, is the best of all that I have read. I would suggest it to anyone who is seeking a deeper walk with God, it is very nourishing to the soul. There is also one entitled Abide in Christ, which teaches one how to abide. Abiding in Christ teaches one how to remain in God's presence and always abiding in Christ.

This is one of the best books we have read in a long time as it shows us how to stay connected to the vine which is jesus Christ.

I am the vine; you are the branches,
This review is from: Abiding in Christ (Paperback)
I highly recommend this 31 day devotional. Andrew Murray's poetic prose is mixed with a soul-gripping message of surrender to Christ. Abiding in Christ "It will be as if [Christ] says, 'Think, believer, how completely I belong to you. I have joined myself inseparably to you; all fullness and fatness of the Vine are yours. It is My desire and My honor to make you a fruitful branch; only Abide in Me. You are weak, but I am strong; you are poor, but I am rich. Only abide in Me; yield yourself wholly to My teaching and rule; simply trust My love, My grace, and My promises. Only believe; I am wholly yours; I am the Vine, you are the branch. Abide in Me." p33 (Day 4) Murray continues on to say that it is not by our own strength that we abide, but rather that it is Christ "who sought, found, and brought [us] near, now to keep [us]." p28 (Day 3) You'll not view the teaching of Jesus concerning the Parable of the Vine (John 15) in the same way... I had a similar feeling about the Parable of the Two Sons when I read "The Prodigal God" by Timothy Keller. The Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith Abiding in Christ speaks of devotion in a complementary way to the writings of Oswald Chambers in "My Utmost for His Highest". My Utmost for His Highest - Deluxe (DELUXE CHRISTIAN CLASSICS) Enjoy! |
