Review

Review of Abigail and Her Pet Zombie as seen on NBC's "The Morning Blend"

"Abigail and Her Pet Zombie is an illustrated children’s book for ages 3 and up by Author Marie F. Crow. Abigail is not your regular five year old. She has a zombie for a pet. This book is fun and quirky and has great illustrations, (the zombie keeps losing his hand). It is perfect for older siblings to read to their younger brothers and sisters."

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable, Heartwarming & a Pleasure to Read March 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I have to say that I never thought I would get a book for my kids that had a zombie as a main character, but a friend recommended it and it turned out to be a pleasure to read for me and my kids. "Abigail and Her Pet Zombie" is adorably written with a lighthearted tone with a fantastically imaginative. Abigail and her pet zombie have a cute relationship... despite the fact that he's a zombie. My son really got a kick out of the idea of a pet zombie and eagerly listened along as we were introduced to this charming world of characters and the unique life they lived.

The accompanying illustrations really took the story to the next level, adding engaging and brightly colorful works of art that helped to bring the story to life and add dimension to it. Marie F Crow does a fantastic job of keeping the story lighthearted, innocently engaging and filled with wonderful messages about everything from friendship to self-esteem. This was a lovely story that was well worth the read for me and my kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Zombie-Lulllaby March 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great little book about a girl and her pet. With zombies being at the fore front of the modern entertainment world, it takes the scary out of it for the kids so that parents can give it all a positive twist. A little dark, or perhaps gray, this book is a winner!

More About the Author

Marie F Crow introduces her newest series, The Sirens. This magical, mythical adventure is set for a young adult audience. This is an engaging and exciting series set in a mermaid undersea realm.

Marie F Crow is also the author of the post-apocalyptic series, The Risen. She weaves her stories around the human element of the horror verses the "monsters" themselves. She believes that the real horror of life does not come from the expected, but from the unexpected responses of the human nature and what depths of trauma a person has to survive in certain situations. She began writing The Risen series when feeling that the popular genre was slipping too deep into the realm of pure "slasher" and forgetting what the horror of zombies can mean for a story.

Now with her children's series launched, Marie hopes to use her favorite "monster" as a teaching tool to inspire children to understand that not everything that looks scary, is scary. With Abigail and Her Pet Zombie series, Marie hopes to further spread her love for all things "that go bump in the night" with small children showing them that it's okay to be different and to embrace those same differences in those around them.
