Book Description

A Maid with a Secret
Shy housemaid Abigail Jones hides a terrible affliction: visions of depravity haunt her. In desperate need of a refuge, Abby seeks a position at Hope End, a gothic English estate. Instead of solace, however, she discovers pieces of a mystery: a portrait of a malevolent beauty, a housekeeper who knows too much, and a powerful man torn between revenge and desire …

A Lord with a Past
Enigma swirls around Earl Huxton, a rich and rakish widower. Yet beneath Hux’s devil-may-care façade lies hidden torment—and a secret crusade to destroy evil. Nothing compromises his quest for vengeance until he meets Abby, whose innocent eyes seem to see into the dark corners of his soul and whose touch entices him to relinquish the past for an infinitely sweeter obsession ...

A Love for All Time
Together, Hux and Abby hunt a deadly supernatural foe through the gothic countryside and the erotic underworld of Victorian London. As passion flares between master and maid, dangerous secrets begin to unravel. With the battle against evil looming, a stunning link between Hux’s past and Abby’s secret comes to light. Will their demons destroy their future ... or will their love vanquish the darkness once and for all?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy Supernatural Cross Between Jane Eyre and Rebecca February 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading both this book and Her Husband's Harlot, I am officially a huge Grace Callaway fan. Abigail is a young woman who has visions of violence and debauchery when she touches certain objects. After the death of her aunt, she finds herself working as a maid for Earl Huxton, a very attractive man about whom scandalous rumors abound.

If you have ever enjoyed Bronte's Jane Eyre or Daphne de Maurier's Rebecca, this book is most definitely for you. It's suspenseful and there is a lot of chemistry between Abby and Hux. And the sex is hot. Callaway creates an atmosphere in this novel that just kept me turning the pages. Perhaps the only issue I had, was with the rather, ahem, unrealistic size of Hux's man parts. Unless Abby just has incredibly tiny hands.

I hope a lot more people discover this author and I will buy whatever books she releases without hesitation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter Rubbish! March 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book as i'd read a prior book of this author and liked it. The blurb sounded right up my alley. The book is set in Regency England and there is no indication that the heroine is a psychic that can only 'read' sexual images off of objects. The Hero is a demon killing Earl who has to have sex with the female demons to 'release' their inner demon....what a load of crap, I want my money back and the time spent trying to read half way into the book before giving up! Very disappointed. I will never read a book my this author again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Definite Must Read! February 5, 2012
By Hakisu
Format:Kindle Edition
Grace Callaway's new book "Abigail Jones" (Chronicles of Abigail Jones #1) is a spellbinding romance which keeps the reader riveted page after page. Set in Victorian England Abigail and Hux's intense relationship evolves over time, revealing unexpected twists and turns interwoven with mysterious, supernatural forces. I highly recommend Callaway's exciting second book "Abigail Jones" for anyone interested in a passionate romance steeped in suspense and mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different but in a good way December 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well first off, I am not a reader of the supernatural. So this was a stretch for me to start with, but having read a couple other books from this author I thought I would give it a try.
To say this book was a surprise is an understatement. It took a bit too get into but once you start it is hard to stop. Note: you do have to read and pay attention to what is going on our you will get lost. As I had things going on with Christmas there were a couple times I had to re-read a page. But other then that, not much to say in the negative.
The character's are strong and hard and are just wonderful. Abigail is a wonderful girl that learns of her past so that she can have the future she deserves. Hux (the earl) is weird at first and you are just not sure where his character is going to go. It's a nice change to the usual men in romance novels. Hux is a tortured soul and is written really well. Love him! These two together get along and can get through anything thrown at them.
I am going to assume that there will be something to come out of this book (a part 2?) The ending didn't really leave for a second book. But would love to see one!
Anyway great book, and another great one from this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best historical romances I've ever read! September 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
What can I say that others haven't already? Ms. Callaway did a spectacular job of drawing me into the book in the first couple of pages. She also did a splendid job of building her characters (something I don't always see). I was rooting for some and hating others as I read the story. The pace of the novel was perfect, the romance was steamy and there were twists and turns in the storyline that I didn't expect, especially toward the end. I give this book 5/5 stars. I encourage others to read this book. I know I have a new author to follow and I will buy her books in the future.

Disclaimer: I won a copy of this book through a book blog. Although the author did not ask me for a review, I volunteered to give her - as well as other readers - my honest opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars April 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely LOVED Abigail Jones! It is a fantastic novel that delivered all of the excitement of a great paranormal suspense along with a passionate romance that left me wanting more.

I adored the main characters. Both Hux and Abby were very complex.. Their struggles to over-come their unwanted destinies and traumatizing pasts was a joy to read.

Reminiscent of one my favorites, Jane Eyre, Abigail Jones held just enough mystery and heat to keep me reading well into the night.

If you're a fan of paranormal historical romances (why aren't there more of these?!) I highly suggest picking up Abigail Jones. I assure you, you will not be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful Victorian-era love and redemption story April 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading the first chapter (sample) and the one star reviews I was for-warned about the fantasy genre of the story, not my usual read. And I think this helped, because the fantasy element works very well in general, except in a few paragraphs were it goes all the way to ridiculous. That being said, this is mostly a beautiful love and redemption story. A classic fairy tale with the bullied and innocent heroine, the hunted hero with a mysterious dark past and even free versions of the bad stepmother and the good godmother. A fairy tail for adults though.
I couldn't put it down and I am hoping the next book comes out soon!.

Loved HER HUSBAND'S HARLOT. Hated this. This is way beyond supernatural into graphic novel territory. And there's no great romance. Save your money.
