This cd is great for the whole family! We've been listening since before our 7 year-old was born. There are marvelous songs for newborns and toddlers-- This Little Baby is a sweet lullaby, and Sweepy Sweepy makes a terrific upper-body aerobic workout for new moms (gently swing the baby as a "broom" and act out the song). The story/songs like Abiyoyo and Sam the Whaler are wonderful for older kids. And adults don't get tired of listening to it over and over (which you surely will). Our 17-month-old can already say "Abiyoyo." I use the old tape a lot in my job as a librarian, especially in our story programs for newborn-to-24-month-olds. Pete Seeger is an American treasure and his musical art is timeless-- please pass it down to the next generation!

Listening to the song samples made me cry. This was my favorite album as a child and I can't wait to share it with my seven month old. I need to thank my parents for their good taste.... Leadbelly, Arlo Guthrie, Free to be You and Me......they bring back great memories.

When my son was very small, we had an album (record) of Pete Seeger's "Sleepytime Stories and Songs"--a long time favorite in our house. Now that my son has children, we have been searching for a cd of the same material. At last I have found it under a different title, and now the little ones can enjoy this wonderfully dear album of work!!

We had this album (back then it was a record) when I was young, and I remembered how much I liked it, so I bought it when my daughter was a year old. A little prematurely, perhaps. The shorter songs are great, and so catchy. I still remember most of the words after MANY years! The longer story songs are great, too, but more appropriate for older children with a longer attention span.

Got this one for Abiyoyo. My wife had never heard it and I used to tell them the story when they didn't want a bath. Grew up with this Album. always a good one

I couldn't get my kids to listen to anything other than Sam the Whaler and Abiyoyo for about 2 years. They're just wonderful, timeless, story-songs. Now I'm looking for a CD version for my grandchildren.

my dad played this music for me when i was little and now i'm playing it for my son. all of the songs are wonderful in their simplicity

I used to listen to this album as a little girl in the 70's and I now have the pleasure of sharing it with my 7 month old son. the songs are sweet, easy to sing along to, and you simply HAVE to dance to them! I sing the beautiful "One Grain of Sand" to my baby every night and he falls asleep to this fantastic lullaby in the car every time we play it. The stories are fun too. "Abiyoyo" will never drive you crazy, no matter how many times your child asks to listen to it...that's a promise. This album truly is a treasure.
