Roomy storage beneath the lid for lap top computers, business files, and personal items. Durable plastic clip on the inside of the lid holds books and newspapers open. Good idea but if the person using it has no manual dexterity, like my mother-in-law, it's of no use. She cannot manipulate the velcro straps that attach it to the arms of the chair. It's also too heavy for her to lift on and off the chair. Like I said, "Good idea...BUT". I had to send it back.
