4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but could be better.
The holder is great for attching to horizontal bars on walkers, etc. They are hard to come by. The dimensions of the clamp are slightly larger than my mother's walker bar but I just added tape around the walker to make up the difference. Once attached I hnoticed that the blue portion of the holder is a littler softer plastic and when a cup is placed in it, it tends to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Danger: product is brittle!
From personal experience -- think carefully before mounting this to anything that might hit against an obstacle! For example, if is on a wheelchair and gets caught in a heavy door, the thin, hollowed-out construction makes it likely to break badly. The peices are useless, somewhat sharp, and probably impossible to repair.

The holder is great for attching to horizontal bars on walkers, etc. They are hard to come by. The dimensions of the clamp are slightly larger than my mother's walker bar but I just added tape around the walker to make up the difference. Once attached I hnoticed that the blue portion of the holder is a littler softer plastic and when a cup is placed in it, it tends to lean slightly. This can cause spillage on tall drinking cups if filled high. It is definately the best thing I could find and I am reasonably satisfied with it. It is serving the purpose it was intended to.

I live in Seattle so a cup of coffee is part of the uniform. This sounded good but that's all. Never quite got the coffee to sit upright. It had a tendency to flip over. Finally the holder got stuck in the wheel of the chair and OOPS. All gone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wheelchair - yes, walkers - no, November 15, 2007
"Ableware Wheelchair Cup Holder - 706220001

On a walker, the cup holder is too flimsy. I wouldn't put anything made of glass or pottery in it. It will hold a 20 oz. plastic bottle, but I always put tops back on.

It's EASY to uninstall for cleaning. However, if the main clamp is too big for the tube, you're in for a bit of work. According to the product specs, the clamp will fit a 1"+ tube and has a sleeve for 7/8" frames. Either my tape measure is wrong or I'm very tired, but my walker has a 1"+ frame. To keep the holder in place, I'm using the clamp, the sleeve and a few rounds of electrical tape to hold it. And I can easily wiggle the cup holder around.

The seller's website (AllegroMedical) says: "The Ableware Wheelchair Cup Holder can also be attached to any round tubular device such as walkers or bed rails." True, but no guarantee it will work well. If you want a walker cup holder, buy one for a walker...

This product attached very nicely to my father-in-laws walker, but I would still not recommend it. Despite the description, this holder WILL NOT HOLD any coffee mug or cup. Believe me, we tried dozens of them and not one worked. Since I bought it so he would quit scalding himself as he took his coffee to the living room, I'm quite disappointed. It holds soda cans just fine, and will work with tall travel mugs. Now I have to go buy him a travel mug so that he can use my original gift.

This is the second clip-on cup holder that we have purchased to be used on a walker and found it to be excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gift, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Ableware Wheelchair Cup Holder, Fits 7/8" to 1" Diameter Tube (Misc.)
I bought this for a friend who could not hold a drink and manipulate the chair at the same time. The cup holder was like giving him an extra hand.
Easy to assemble and attach. No problem with shipping.

This is a great idea! Use only small based cups, nothing bigger then a soda can. Be careful where you place the cup holder or it will get in the way of the brake handle, poke you in the leg, or catch on your clothes or furniture or something. Otherwise, a great buy!

It is a great accessory for my mother's wheelchair. She can now roll her wheelchair without having to hold her cup of water. She loves it!
