Let me start by saying I love Ron. I've been into him since LONG before his G'n'R days. I've been to a couple of his clinics, own all his albums, have pretty much every rare recording of his, etc. HUGE fan. That said, a lot of this album doesn't appeal to me. Sans a few good riffs here and there and some blistering guitar solos, I didn't really start digging the album until about the 2nd half. The notable songs on the album for me right now are: Simple Days (very easy-going tune), Piranha (heaviest song on the disc with great composition and a great solo), Guitars Still Suck (a ridiculously amazing follow-up to Guitars Suck), Green (another easy-going tune), Spaghetti (an instrumental that would've mostly fit perfectly in the movie Pulp Fiction), Misery (if you liked the vibe of his album Uncool, you'll really dig this tune), The Day After (this song has a very ambient feel to it and REALLY reminds me of something I would expect to hear from Buckethead), and Dash (just a solid rock tune with a cool solo).

Basically, exactly half of this album really appeals to me and the other half doesn't. This is what I've become accustomed to with Ron's solo discs, though! Outside of his first few albums, I usually like about half of the music on any given disc. That's why I've given it 5 stars. Even though I don't like the other half, that's not to say it isn't well-written and won't appeal to others. Ron is an amazing talent and regardless of who you are, there's stuff on this album for you. (Unless you're looking for stuff like "Bun B" or "David Allan Coe" or something, lol)

Ok I just got this album today, definitely a pleasant surprise because it has so freaking great tracks. The style is widely diverse from punk,classical,opera,shred,country.. well you name it :). For all these years I've been listening to Ron's music, it's quiet amazing to see how this man always came up with fresh and amazing ideas with his music. To some people probably they know Ron from his blazing licks and never ending smart shred guitar playing, but as a matter of facts, he's more than just guitar god, he's definitely a modern composer that has his own way to express his idealistic and genious music.. I really can't get enough to listen to this amazing CD.. it's so yummy like banana split ice cream and yet spicy like your tasty hot sauce! get it and listen for yourself.. Abnormal definitely a great album .. I consider it as the best one among Bumblefoot's CDs .. yeah.. it's that GREAT! :)

There are at least 7 killer songs featured on this disc & Ron Thal's fret work on this disc as well as chinese democracy kicks major keyster.Good Shredding with a raw punk attitude.

Bumblefoot is a wicked guitarist that has talent and skill to burn. Few people had heard of him until recently after he got the gig with Guns 'n' Roses resulting in a great boost to his profile. This is his new solo album and it continues in the style he is known for - weird psychotic frantic punkish country virtuoso rock jingles! Don't be frightened but be prepared for something a little different. I'm gonna be honest and tell you that this is a mish mash of killer guitar playing and quirky songwriting with brutally honest and potentially offensive vocals. I love it but I think it is an aquired taste. Bumblefoot is really interesting to listen to and he certainly can't be accused of rehashing ideas - his music is one of a kind! Don't expect to hear standard guitar shred cause this is way more quirky and more in the vein of Frank Zappa (concepts and humour) meets the Beatles (catchy jingles) meets Steve Vai (guitar shred).

Super-professional punk-rock, very funny and energic music. I like this album very much for the mix of crazy punk drive with brilliant professional play, guitar work is really great!!! Recommended to listen at maximum volume ))

It took some time for guitarist Ron Thal to get around to writing this record, which is understandable when you commit to a gig as big as Guns N' Roses. Yet, when time presented itself, Bumblefoot was able to get all this built up music off his chest and into his hands.

This new album is a great display of what made so many people love Ron's music, while once again presenting a different shade of himself for us. It contains much of the quirkiness we've come to expect of him, yet remains within the bounds of reasonable listening. What Ron has done is quite amazing. This album presents a Ron Thal who has grown so comfortable to his abnormal sound that he can shape the music in such a way that is catchy to even the most casual of music fans. Rarely is anything on this record weird for the sake of being weird, but rather used to make the songs unique. We've experienced a Ron who has done things that make us turn our heads, but now that he has our attention he is doing things for the sake of the song rather than for himself. That, I think, is an exceptional task for any musician.

This record is simply awesome. I will admit that I heard of Bumblefoot through his association of Guns N' Roses a few years back, and wow, Im glad I did. My first CD of his a bought was Normal, loved it, bought almost all the rest of his CDs and waited with great anticipation for this CD adnormal. Very impressed. AS with the first reviewer, bumblefoot covers a range of styles, but overall the CD has a rock / punk feel with wicked guitar, no wonder Axl got this guy to replace buckethead (and I must say, while I love bucketheads music (he is currently the best guitarist out there), Ron Thal (aka Bumblefoot) just fits so well with the revamped GNR. Back to the CD. The first and title track rocks and is once of those that you can never seem to get out of your head. Awesome. The albulm continues with catcy punk rockers and some nice instrumental guitar only tracks, and Ron suprised me with the last track, wow.
Anyway, spend the $10 bucks and enjoy yourself.

There's no debating the fact that Bumblefoot is an amazing guitarist, and that he works really well with the new gnr. Unfortunately, he's a bad singer, and on this cd his annoying, nasally voice usually overshadows the stunning guitar work. Get 9/11 instead, where the focus is on the guitar and not crappy, over-polished pop rock.

EDIT: Since I wrote this, I discovered you can download the instrumental mixes of these songs, which are highly enjoyable. I recommend doing that. Unfortunately, that only gets you the instrumental versions of the songs that originally had vocals, which means you still have to get the regular version for Guitars Still Suck, Spaghetti, and The Day After.
